USB is where Aux out use to be. I would have preferred it up front. Also, the only thing I DISLIKE about the car, is the shitty screen they swapped in from the 2011-12 tech one. I guess now that all of the info is on the Nav they didn't care (cheaper) but it looks like shit. I miss that nice blue hd screen.

I really wish I had a USB port in my 2012, it's so frustrating using auxiliary with my phone.

So now we have to wait a couple months until somebody wrecks one and salvage that headunit and see what it take to put that into the earlier(2010-2012) models. I want that...

Why not play via bluetooth?

I really do like that headunit, though. Curious to find out in the coming weeks/months if it is possible to put in a 2010-2012 model and retain nearly all of the functionality.

I only use BT, I don't want to have my phone hooked up while i am in the car. The lag is annoying but i can deal with it.

But i do agree, i want the new headunit. If i could retain the GPS, i would be happy. I got a new phone and ever since then, the car won't tell me any information about the music i am playing so that isn't really important.

I've noticed some audio quality degradation when using bluetooth, not to mention the fact that I have to take my eyes off the road to change the song on my phone more-so than using the screen built into the car.

Mine will let me skip forward and back with the steering wheel controls via bluetooth. However you're right about the audio quality, its so much better with AUX over the codec bluetooth streaming uses.

I'm probably in the minority. I had OEM center dash navs in my TSX and STI, and while it was nice to have the larger real estate, I have to admit that I really appreciate the fact that I don't have to take my eyes off the road when viewing the smaller upper dash mounted nav in my '12 Speed3. It's probably because I'm older now. In my last 2 cars, I ran a lot of extra "media" through the screens. Now, I just want a nav screen that gets me to where I need to be!

I'm indifferent on the colored mirrors and rear valance, but I really dig those gunmetal wheels... was originally planning on picking up another OEM set and PC'ing them black to run in the warm months, but now I may see if I can just pick up a set of these '13s... so someone pick up aftermarkets already and sell me their stockers!

I think it would be cheaper to powder coat your rims then buy new 2013's. Having custom powder cost will look a lot better then factory paint.

Exactly what "black" are the mirrors painted? It'd look funny, to me, on a Black Mica if it is technically a different color black. It does look good on the CWP, though. Probably will on VR, too. Doubt I'd care for it on LSM, however.

Do either of your phones support A2DP? If not, that is probably the culprit. Bluetooth sounds fantastic via my Galaxy S3. I'll put it this way, it certainly isn't the weak point of the stereo when listening that way, even when streaming Spotify (set to 'extreme quality').

The lag in any control input (via the steering wheel or the phone itself) is a bit of a bummer, but ultimately not that big of a deal.

Powder coat will look better and be easier to take care of until you curb it, then there is no way to fix it except get the powder coat redone. I beat the shit out of my powder coated wheels to get the brake dust off after running them all winter and then look just like the day i got them.

Depends on where you are located and how fast you need them done. I got mine sandblasted, gloss black, and a clear coat for $70/wheel. They had the wheels for a month though. I could have had them done in two days but I would have paid 100/wheel without the sandblasting fee and any clear coat. I would give up my wheels for month to save that kind of money again.

Just shop around

Default Changes to 2013 speed3

Hi guys I'm new at this forum thing but I'm an owner of 2012 speed3 and actually happened to be at the dealership right when the 2013 speed3's arrived! Exciting to say the least, I saw the models first hand and that's why I joined the forum, to put aside any speculations and tell you what the new ones will be like...

Ok so I saw them in the 4 traditional colors that they have come in for the last couple of years (black, white, the dark grayish one, and the red). First big change: RIMS COME IN BLACK NOW!! Yes, you're reading right, the rims for all the colors are black now stock. Next thing I noticed were the mirrors for all of them are black now too, something I along with the salesmen at Mazda thought looked somewhat cheap but we'll see what the general reaction is once it comes out for good. Next and basically almost lastly, the back bumper for all of them is now partially gray: I don't know how to explain this exactly, but just picture the lower half of the bumper, regardless of the color of the car, in a somewhat metallic gray. Personally, I don't think it looks all that but the salesmen all seemed to agree it was a nice touch.
Appearance wise, that's all that seems to be different on the 13's (not too impressed to be honest)
Now as far as performance, they're apparently keeping the same beautiful 263 I-4 premium engine as well as the 280 lb foot of torque, something not too surprising considering they didn't change the engine when the 2010 redesigned model came out.
I did not get a chance to see the inside but from what I heard its the same thing as well, both the base and upgraded models, just like the 2012's, will have Bose stereo systems and then the upgraded models will have the navigation and all the extra goodies.
Overall, not many changes, but I hope this description here helps anyone with concerns about the new models!
Like I said, I got extremely lucky to be at the dealership getting my tag for my 2012 speed3 when I saw them arrive.
Quick recap of upgrades:
- black rims (same style as the 10-12, just black, nice finish)
-black mirrors (somewhat on the cheap-looking side)
-partial gray back bumper

Hope you all enjoyed my first post ever, hopefully I could be of help!

Yes, we know. This is a design the Gen1 had, that many Gen2 owners have copied because of how damn good it looks.

Decent information. But we've known this for months, so you're a little late to the party with 2013 stuff.

Went by my local dealership t today since they had a 2013 CWP just to check it out in the flesh. Looks phenomenal in person. No tech package cars in my area yet.

Wheels look great, not sure about the side mirrors, remind me of a base model gx from a few years ago.
They shoulda went with a gloss black roof like they did on the 2012 special edition sedans

Thanks for the shot. I'm going to have to go down to my local dealership to see one... the rims look really dark in the pics in this thread (which is what I prefer), but I've never seen an OEM gunmetal wheel look like that in person.

I don't think I'm feeling the black mirrors though...

I was hoping for that liquid metal look on the wheels like the 08.5's rather than this really dark gray, almost black color. A little disappointed to be honest, probably partly cause I don't like black wheels.

wheels look better in person but are really dark. I happen to like them that way especially on the CWP. The Black mica mirrors also have good contrast for the color too. Come on January!

Why is everyone so butt-hurt about the fucking mirrors? Plastidip them or get them painted.
