i'm glad the wheels come gun metal stock now, that is fucking awesome. but i'm pissed they decided to stick with a 7.5" and 225s. i was hoping they would bump it to 8" and at least make the stock tires 235s. if they had gone 8", i would have just bought a set of the 2013 wheels. guess i'll be getting aftermarket wheels after all. i like my 235s, but i'll be going up to 255s and will need new wheels for that.

Since you posted it twice, guess I will respond twice... this two threads thing is gonna get old...

Really if you want stocker look with gunmetal and 8" wide look at RX-8 R3 rims, identical to pu stockers except they are darker and 19x8. I know I've got my eye on a set down the road. But just like all stock Mazda parts, they are stupid expensive -- $1300 each MSRP. Gives no hope for this head unit being a reasonable cost.

We'd probably have to wait for a gen3 Mazda3 sedan/hatch announcement to get an idea of how the MS3 will turn out, should it continue life into the next generation

I don't know how I would like a diesel in the speed3, not sure if the fwd platform could handle all the extra torque...

Well, there's already a 2.2L turbo diesel regular 3 in the UK, and our cars are very well capable of putting 340 WTQ to the ground properly. I'm sure with a little extra engineering, they could bring a turbo diesel 3 stateside.

That said, I can't see them offering more than one engine configuration for the MS3. Maybe the Speed3 will get a small bump in power/MPG, and the regular 3 will get the turbo diesel to bring its Skyactiv initiative full circle, while leaving the performance variant intact

HAHAHA I was putting 340 wtq to the ground a year and a half ago just fine on this platform and have since pushed it even further as have many others.

The 2013 Speed3 is supposedly a "special edition" (hence the gunmetal wheels and other minor aesthetic changes)... as such, they need to get rid of the damn seat/door insert chicken pox! Mazda HAS to know by know that they were a complete design fail and that everybody hates them. All they need to do is use the leather seats/door inserts from the regular 3. Maybe if we talk about it enough, some Mazda research guys will get the hint after lurking on our forum. (it's a 1/1,000,000 shot, but worth trying, right? )

I'm meh about the spots. I could take it or leave it. I love the stitching on the shifter boot though. My biggest complaint about the interior is the size of the nav screen followed closely by all the buttons on the head unit.

People get in and are intimidated my all the buttons. At some point you gotta go touch screen to try and clean up the dash a bit.

Oh, I'm just assuming based on the fact that the JDM Axela is called a special edition for 2013... maybe it won't technically be called the "special edition", but with the aesthetic changes that's basically what it is.

I bet 2013 is the last year, maybe a 2013.5 before the redesign then who knows?

I'd be surprised if 2013 was the last run for this generation of Mazda3, considering that the gen1s lasted from 2004-2009. The 2012 refresh of the Mazda3 suggests this generation will last at least another two years IMO.

I'm surprised the toned-down front end from the refreshed genpu 3 never carried over into the MS3. Maybe that will change for 2014 or 2015.

Really? So the 04-09 3's didnt have the black rear lower valence?

"everyone else is doing" ...its a madza 3...not a game changing supercar..anything on our cars has already been done 10x over.

Fyi, the speed lower valence will be PAINTED black mica, where most cars simply have black plastic trim.

I'd say a total redesign with the new design language. The second gen mazda6 ran 2009-2013, so the second gen mazda3 should run 2010-2014? (5 years)

Expect the 2015 next gen mazda3 in early 2014?

I was talking about the gen pu not gen juan.. i have yet to see a pu with a blacked out valence from the factory. Thats why i said it was funny that mazda is now painting them since now i see so many pu owners doing the samething.

They just took the white sema cars from last year and put that into production, minus the turbo sedan and big brake kit

from what I heard a few hundred dollars, theyre using the new nav / dash in all the mazda3's which will help keep the cost down as it isnt mazdaspeed specific. in terms of the other features, I cant see it costing them more to make the wheels darker / paint the bumper part black
