2013 Speed3 Smart Key question
 

May seem dumb, but here goes. I've got a 2013 MS3 with the Smart Key, and I am trying to figure out if this car even has an auxiliary ignition mode...you know, pop in the key, turn it to half-way, listen to the radio, read OBD2 codes, program your Cobb AP, etc. My 2010 Speed3 had the standard keyless entry system, and as such, a standard key, so no problem. The Smart (HA!) Key has an auxiliary key IN IT, but is only used to start the car if the Smart Key remote dies. It won't actually rotate the ignition switch. So...anyone?:Eyecrazy:

Just press the Start engine button without depressing the clutch? A bit confused about your question. Also that key is only used in place of the key fobs ability to transmit a signal so when pushed the button activates the starter. Like you said, useful if you ever drop your fob in water or if the battery dies.
