"I've fallen and I can't get up" is actually one of the most effective advertising slogans ever created. Pure genius (at the expense of old people).

I been lurking for about a month since I picked up my MS3. At 36 (be 37 this year) I thought I would have been one of the oldest up in here!

Default Old is good

Well I guess I qualify for the old fart club. I picked up my 2012 Silver MS3 on New Years Eve. I'm 58 and this is the latest in a long line of hot cars. Started with a 1960 Healy 3000 and then on to a 65 mustang. Next a Mazda 626 rear wheel drive sports coupe. Then came a Dodge ACR which was a specialty racing coupe. I crossed Wyoming back 13 years ago when there were no speed limits averaging 110 MPH. That went the way of a 2004 stage 2 Dodge Neon SRT-4. Top speed 160 MPH and a bit of a handful due to a bit of torque steer. Now that was a great car with a loud rumble. The SRT-4 is available and a great mid-life crisis car. My hearing is on the way out so I wanted something a bit quieter more civilized so I got the Speed3.

Please don't tell me the MS3 is a kids car or for a person on a mid-life crisis. It is a nice civilized sleeper great for driving the family on a road trip. I travel the east coast between Western Ma and Washington DC a number of times a year. I have 2 K on the car in the last 30 days. For lots of this kind of driving you want a car with plenty of power and maneuverability to get out of the ways of the dingbats that think driving is a loud stereo, a cellphone implanted in their face and think they own the left lane.

Any-way, a car is what you make it and the hell with what others think.

I'm late to this thread, but I have all you pretend old farts whupped by a bunch. First of all, I'm 72 (!), but the kicker is that my young wife (only 64) was the one that pushed me into buying the MS3. And she pretty well hauls ass in the thing. Being our "economy" car, it will remain stock, but we do have a balls out C5 Corvette that just made 798 RWHP, as well as three sport bikes. Fuck old age.

Guess I'm the middle aged old fart here at 47, purchased my 2010 speed3 about six months ago, my wife just shook her head and said at least it's a hatchback. Got a little smoke at cold start recently but it goes away as soon as it warms up, other than that I got no complaints. Taking it in Tuesday for that VVT recall so guess I'll ask about the smoke then, hope it's not the smoking turbo disease.

The VVT and turbo deal is not a recall, just a warranty extension. Not everyone has the problem.

Awesome dude! Tell me you have children because you'd make the coolest grandpa ever!
Daughter who is now 35, and a couple of grandsons. She and I did the Panoz GT race school at Road Atlanta together a few years ago, and the lady was consistently 3-4 seconds a lap quicker. She drives a lightly modded Nissan Spec V Sentra on the street.

As for the 'Vette, I'd post pics if the site would allow me to load directly from my computer; I am slightly tech stupid, one shortcoming of my advanced age.

Thanks Raider. Sure hope I'm one of the ones that don't have a problem.

Late coming to the thread (had to eat my gruel this morning and down my multiple pharma),
but welcome OP. This from a 60 year old.

And I now have a true hero, Marco427. I salute you, sir.

I'm almost 50. Had a 67 Camero when I was 16. Fully built, 4 bolt main etc... Then I had a 69 Volkswagon Baja Bug with a Porsche engine and twin carbs. But I must admit, this ms3 is so much more fun and it's reliable to boot. I don't however recommend sex in the backseat unless she's flexible or short. Blow jobs are okay on the freeway, but any knee jerk movements put you over 100 mph before you can cum. Wrecking with your pants around your ankles will be bad. Have fun though.

I'm toying with the idea of getting a MS3 as a new DD. I'm 57 and have an 08 Corvette as my weekend toy. It's a stock LS3 and only puts out 435 HP.

Curious as to your driving impressions of the Mazda vs the Vette.

I'm 53 and have had my new Speed 3 since May last year. I love pocket rockets- had an 07 Civic SI and a 2010 WRX previous. I love surprising other cars with the Speed 3- it's a real sleeper. And I get great MPG, too- average over 29- even when I cruise 75-80. I have roof racks, use it to transport kayaks and my road racing bike too. So, NEVER too old!

It's difficult to compare the Mazda and the Corvette. In spite of similar weight, the C5 feels ponderous by comparison, and the boost response of the turbo four is worlds better than the centrifugal blower (Procharger F1C) on the Corvette. Handling on the mountain roads around here is close, but I actually find the Mazda a little easier to drive near the limit that I'm willing to push in public. Once the that big V8 kicks in though, it's a different world.
