Acura Legend vs Mazdaspeed3 story. So this kid i work with has a mid 90's Acura Legend 3.2L V6. The thing looks like he bought it from a junk yard and he showed up right when they had it on the crusher. It has a cheesy body kit as well as many dents and rusted out parts. So he approaches me since he noticed my new car and we start talking. I think we all know what comes next. He claims he would "smoke" me. The funny part about this is that he said the only car around that could "smoke" him is this corvette that he raced a few months back. Now let me just tell ya that Scranton, Pa is a pretty decent sized area and there are plenty of fast cars around here that would beat a corvette. Anyway, long story short, i asked him what mods he had and how much hp he thought he was pushing to the wheels. Now his response to the mods question was that he had it "bored" out to a 3.5l V6, a CAI, and an exhaust + headers, and he also included a resonator delete in his list of mods! WHATT??!! resonator delete must add 100HP these days because when i asked again how many horses he was pushing to the wheels he quickly answered with 330whp. Oh and dont forget about the PS3 hooked up in the car with his mini tv's. Now correct me if im wrong but Acura didnt produce a 90's Legend with over 230hp. So to the wheels stock you are probably running around 185-190whp right? So with his mods list he gave me and even more than that he couldnt possibly have 330whp, and even if he did he still wouldnt be smoking every car except one specific corvette(yes he beats other corvettes, just not this "one")!!. So we continued to talk(im not sure why i was still talking to him) humor i guess? He tells me about all the times he beat Sti's and Cobalt SS/TC's, and other corvettes, and then says he has never beat/raced a mazdaspeed3 but he has "smoked" a mazdapeed6 so he and i would be a "good close race"!? There isnt a car out there that can beat him except this one corvette apparently. Now here I am thinking that from a 40 roll i could beat him in 5th gear, then i thought "hey maybe 6th gear even, that would be cool". Oh and remember this kids Legend looks the totaled Supra in the fast and the furious, before they took it off the tow truck and dropped 15k into it. So what do you think? Do i let him finally race his first ms3? Should I let him "smoke" me or no? Keep in mind, my car is still stock so I dont think i stand a chance in hell against this kids legend. Hope this gives everyone a good laugh, or maybe the joke is on me and a legend really would beat a 2010 MS3, I mean this kid claims to have "smoked" a 2012 GT500.. i have friends with SS/tc's and other ms3's and it never fails theres Hondas that roll up next to you on meet night. My friends will leave it in 4th-5th and beat them from a 40 roll but im a firm believer of crushing them into the ground, i 2nd gear those punks so they know who's boss lol. As funny as it is for you and i to talk later about how you beat a civic in 4th, i dont want there to be a doubt in their mind that they got dusted and it wasnt even close. |
@Voltwings; I'm the same way... If you instigate it because you think you're fast, you're getting the whole D, not just the tip. Let's just be clear here... You're going to need a lot more than 330whp in any car to beat a GT500. Unless by beating it he means he ran into it in a parking lot or something. |

Race him and not only win, but straight up beat him into the ground. Make it for money, hell even 20 bucks would be better than nothing. |

hahah i fixed the "great wall of text". yeah, 6th gear WOT not a good idea from a 40. it was just a thought that crossed my mind when he was blurting all of this to me, of how bad he would lose even if i blew up in 6th gear. haha. but i think you guys are right, i will just obliterate him. I mean maybe he is hiding something in there he isnt telling me about, maybe he has one of those amazing ebay racing chips that give you 60-100hp gains. who knows. I am going to see if he will actually race me instead of always leaving work b4 me and avoiding me. He is going to get his beating one way or another. drew |
Why are you asking permission to race? After making that big ass post you better get it on video with an interview after so we can hear how his tune is off and the car hasn't been running right since he beat that last gt500. |
Rusted out car is just enough weight reduction to offset the body kit. Stock speed3s are close races for Altima V6, Accord V6, Camry V6, Chevy LTZ 3.7. Go find out. |
haha @bludypoo u just made my day and gave me a great idea. I am def gunna try to record his feelings after i beat him. I know dam well the intake is just a POS filter from auto zone zip-tied to the airbox somehow and his exhaust is jb-welded to the frame. I just wish u guys could see/hear this kid talking about his car, it is so funny. He is dead ass serious when he says stuff like that too. he may have never raced a gt500 but he sure thinks he can beat one... Dont forget the Maxima V6. |
Make sure you throw hazards on honda style. Its not an official honda kill unless you do that. And fwiw, my buddy had this ugly ass hatchback with 4 mismatched rims and ziptied out the ass. The seats had holes that bit back when you sat in them. Car ran a 10.40 last I heard before he got booted from Englishtown his first pass. Something to think about. |

In my experience, a lot of tards out there think that Mazdaspeed was just an option code for the 3's and 6's, i.e. body kit, upgraded seats, etc. Little do they know Mazdaspeed is serious business for serious people because serious racecar. Our shit was built in Japan son! JDM! Yoshi built my engine with his bare hands. Takumi built my transmission and Haruto built my diff. He don't know who he be trifling with. |
