If that touch screen and Sync system is the same that resides in my wife's 13 Escape...all I can say is that would be a deal breaker for me.

I went and drove the Fiesta ST and the Focus ST at the Ford Driving Challenge last week.

I am NOT a Ford guy. I am on Mazda #9 .

HOwever, if I had test driven the Ford ST before the my MS3, I would have bought the ST. yes that is how much I liked the Focus.

The power was very linear. I like the design. The rear doesn't look asian woman with MS3 slanty eyes.

The thing I don't like about the focus, was the center stack was over styled.

It also has much better color choices.

Oh well, doesn't matter now. 2 more years of my MS3, then time to move on to something more powerful.

I've driven an ST and it seemed to me to just be a watered down version of the speed3 IMO, plus one of my speed friends has a friend who has an ST and regularly beats him. As a matter of fact after the ST guy got his AP and some other mods I'm not sure about, he raced the speed and lost again, he was so mad he didn't talk to us for a week, lol. Even if I had the choice of the ST, which I didn't when I bought my speed, I'd still pick my raw power boy racer. Just my .02

i have seen lots of biased reviews where the deciding factor of the 2 is torque steer. they say the st has no torque steer where the speeds is so bad it ruins the driver experience, well in another review someone said the torque steer on the st was terrible so someone is lying, lots of car reviews are getting paid off by ford to lie or they have a personal vendetta against Mazda.

I watched a good video reviewing them both. They did a torque steer test and they said the Ford was better, but they were both awful. Overall they said the suspension on the ST was the most amazing FWD suspension they have ever been on. But this was a professional driver blowing through turns letting it slide.

Looks wise I think the MS3 is 100x what the ST is. The ST looks so bland and boring. Maybe if they put a hood scoop on it, but the car looks so bland.

I think the overall opinion was the ST was more refined and the MS3 was more raw. Remember though, the MS3 in this model is 3 years old and the Focus is brand new for this year or last. Of course the technology and interior styling is going to be better on a newer car.

This is my ST in the instructor run group and the only thing is has is a rear sway bar, a filter and at the time a tune. On street tires. The factory brake pads were toast by the 15 minute mark, so I had to pull in.

Only other car that handled this well and was probably as fast is my nephews '10 Cobalt SS with the brembo's I beat the crap out of it on this very same track and had a blast even with stock pads and tires with zero mods.

Earlier that day I nearly looped it several times, because the tires are cold and the tail was more than willing to rotate on command.

Did you try it with some race pads after this?
