Auto tech internals removal Stocking out the car. Can't figure out how to get the retainer pieces out of the internal assembly. I've installed like 6 sets of internals wtf am I doing wrong? Help please lol |
Anyone ? |
Maybe I am misunderstanding but if you compress the spring does it not relieve the tension and they come off? |
Exactly what I thought. But they are not coming out.! |
Soak em in some gas or cleaner. They're probably just stickied up. |
Put the pump on a vise , compress the spring with a box end wrench and with a pick or thin screw driver knock off the keepers . Helps to have one person compress and the other knock em off |

I don't understand the problem at all, and you've got no pictures. The retainer clips (keepers) and ring on the "camshaft" or "oiled" side of the piston come with the autotech internals. You don't need to disassemble them at all if all you're trying to do is stock out, since the stock internals have their own retainer that you presumably didn't disassemble from them when you removed them either. So once you unscrew the bolt that holds the internals to the pump housing, simply push the entire piston with keepers and ring attached out from the "pump" or "gas" side of the piston. |
