| Not Ranked : 0 score if money is not a problem he should get a more expensive car with an auto tranny in it already. jump up to ~$50k and there's plenty of choices with plenty of power. i've got a buddy who's got a suicide knob on his wheel and hand pedal controls in his honda fit, and he's sure it's too much hassle for him to ever drive stick. i cannot conceive of a scenario where it would make sense to buy a speed and convert it to auto for this if money is no object. |

| Apologies for my earlier post, OP, if I'd known the friend was handicapped, I wouldn't have made the comment I did. As for the swap, I suspect it is probably technically possible, but there may be problems with the strength of the MZ3 auto's componentry insofar as handling 280lb-ft of torque or more is concerned. That being said, he'd probably be better off with something that's designed as an auto from the outset. There'll be less hassles, less problems if something breaks, and it'll probably be a more cohesive package anyway. I'm with bmylez about the GTi with DSG instead...or maybe the Audi A3 2.0T or something along those lines. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score Finding a crashed CX7 would be a good wait to get the parts for little money and getting the auto shifter from a 2.5l mazda3 would finish up the cab. It can be done, well if you do take pictures it will be a fun project for you friend. And don't forget to explain better "why doing this" next time you post something like that because flames are pretty quick on MSF I was thinking about doing something like that, my wife mother is giving her 2010 mazda5 to us this fall 2012 and I was thinking of putting our engine in it. But it is auto, it would be a lot more fun to drive with 261hp/280ft-lbs.

| Not Ranked : 0 score This. Allocate cx-7 tranny. Get cx-7 wiring harness and ECU for fwd turbo cx7, may not be able to utilize stock dash or many functions ont teh stock dash. You'll probably need to make custom tranny mount, possibly have to make some custom axles. Hope it fits. Get shifter assembly from cx-7 and jerry rig that shit into the genpu. Probably a lot of other electronic headaches along the way. And not to mention the interior would look hacked up without some custom work.
