Default Is it bad pushing the e-brake button when engaging?

I have a bad habit of trying to be quiet while engaging my e-brake due to my old car. When I engage the brake, I typically hold in the button and release once I've pulled it to the top. Is this bad at all on the brake system?

The reason I ask is because I think I've noticed a difference in the stiffness of the brake. It seems like I'm able to pull it much higher than I originally could. It still works fine to my knowledge (although I havent tried a super steep hill) but seems to pull up easier and goes higher.

Any information/input is appreciated. Thanks guys.

I'll be the good samaritan. The button simply disengages the lock on the brake handle. No harm comes to the brakes the way you use it

The ebrake handle pulling higher is because the cable that the handle is attached to is a little loose. There should be a screw or bolt you can tighten under the center console trim that will restore the shorter pull.

yeah i'm sick of my loud e-brake too... i dont even use it anymore i just leave the car in gear. I also plugged my exhaust pipe cuz that was making far too much noise. and i rarely turn the car on in the first place, without earplugs in.

Default Clicking Noise

I dont mean to hi-jack this thread but since you all are talking about e-brakes. When I lift up on mine to engage it, it makes a clicking noise. I have taken it to the dealer three times and they havent found the cause. Since I own a gen2(pu) I thought it might be related to the OPs issue. Any ideas?

Fucking Christ, were 90% of you here born out the back of a hatch or what? Excuuuuuuuse me for asking what I THOUGHT was a harmless question seeing as I've only put 5000 miles on the car. I've owned 4 cars and NEVER had to tighten a single one, so why would a new car need it done? My bad habit from my old cars terribly obnoxious ebrake was my only possible explanation.

You all talk so much shit how the questions 'never cease to amaze you'; well how do you think people like myself feel about answers like yours? Fuck, the question was answered kindly and simply in several posts. Instead, ya'll actually seem to care to go out of your way to talk down on someone. Dude, grow a set. You asked a question that can be answered by anyone that has driven a manual car and you just stated this is your 4th so don't act dumb. Let's start with the obvious...
1. You havent donated. So in my opinion you shouldn't have any right to make a new thread except for a new member welcome.
2. If you are driving a car and don't know the simple operation of a ratchet system you should probably look into that.
3. To answer your question so we don't find you hanging by your belt from your shower rod due to lack of answers, no. You aren't hurting anything by pushing or not pushing the button while applying the e-brake. It's a ratchet system only and the click is just to ensure it is fully engaged on the next notch. Pushing the button only releases the catch mechanism so it doesn't get hung up on any of the notches when releasing the brake.
4. Please grow a set and act like a man. This is the Internet machine. Not preschool.
