BF gforce or Dunlop direzza

Have any of you guys tried BF gforce or Dunlop direzzas? Tirerack is closing out both and I am tempted to try them. Last set was PSS but for half price on closeout I am tempted..........

Gforce KDW or Comp? I went through several sets of Comps before switching to PSS. They are comparable, certainly for the price, but tend to squeal near midlife.

YMMV with the KDWs.

Looks like the gforce rival 2013 production. Not a huge fan of BF tires though. Real curious about the Dunlop Direzza ZII.

I currently have the Dunlop Direzza Z1 Star Specs and absolutely love them. After reading this article from One Hot Lap, I cant wait for these to go and try the zii or zii star specs.

I've had Z1 Star Specs and Z2's. Both were incredible tires in all measurable performance aspects. Fantastic lateral grip, feedback at the limit, and acceleration and braking traction. The only major issue is that they wear below usable daily levels after around 15k miles. Also, be very careful below 40°F as they become very slippery.

Search under my name for these tires. I've written about them on a few occasions (I've had both, plus others). I'm on my phone, so I'll find them later if you haven't already

ZII SS, got em back in November '14 and they are really good. I think you are probably looking at the ZII non-SS, so yeah, I'd suggest those too.

Tetro767 03-01-2015 05:23 PM

I'm running the BFGoodrich g-force sport comp-2's and love em. Had 'em on since late Nov.

I've been running the Dunlop ZII (non-SS) on my track car for a year or so and am very happy with their grip and feel. They are definitely summer tires and of course wear relatively quickly like any sticky rubber. The g-Force Rival would be the comparable tire from BFG. I haven't tried them, but they do seem to be the favorite tire of many autocrossers around here.

g-Force Rival = for autox and lighter cars, Miata owners praise them
Dunlop = for road racing and heavier cars

Thanks for the input but I decided to step up and get another set of PSS. This time I went 235 40 18. For those that are wondering this size fits the stock PU wheels and feel great so far.

Yeah, I've fallen for a little bit more sticky for a few bucks less a couple times over the years when I probably should have just stuck with the Michelins I was replacing. I can't argue against them anymore, especially when it probably means buying tires twice as often.

specvspeedfreak 03-02-2015 01:01 PM

Just FYI the Dunlop ZII's and ZIIss now have a $50 rebate. 225/40/18 ZII would be $450 after rebate but before shipping. Good deal.

lnumbp 03-02-2015 06:30 PM

Holy crap that is a good deal. Unfortunately 235/40-R18's are a good $150 more for the set. Regardless I'm now ashamed to think what I payed for mine just 1 year ago. At least I thought I was getting a good deal at the time...

Yeah thats why i went with the 225/40/18. I prefer 235/40 myself but i can deal with it ;) until next set is needed. Once these and my 245/40/17 tires are toast ill put "extreme" tires on the 17s and DD's on the 18s.

These came in yesterday. They do look a bit smallish but still cant wait to put them on.

For another budget sticky tire... federal 595 rsr's are always a good choice.
