boost creep with new setup..any ideas? 4 Attachment(s) ok heres whats happening...im about to start retuning for my new bits and pieces, and my boost is creeping far too much for my 91 tune. I have turned my mbc to the lowest setting and still it creeps to the same spot. Prior this setting used to give me about 19.5-20.5 psi max, now at 5k it will hit 23.5psi and want to carry on the scenario..swapped intakes..JBR 3.5 to sure 3inch also swapped bpv from forge v2 to synapse diveter valve in recirc using both A and B ports everything else in the system has stayed the same other than new silicone vac hoses for the new parts up top. external wastegate is on a 1 bar spring-tial mvs boost controller: hallman pro rx (stiff spring) turned all the way anti clockwise (subtract boost) attached is a jpeg of my setup ( how things are connected) And the logs I took this morning If anyone can give me some suggestions as to what I should look in to or play around with or if you see any issues that need correction please let me know, messing with the car and Finals at the same time is sucking the life out of me! :17: |
Have you tried running on wastegate pressure alone to see if it creeps? Sent from my your mom's face on my junk |
Yes, first things to try: 1. Remove the MBC and run the line straight to the WG. 2. If it still creeps, then I would at if that boost source is actually leaking at the new Synapse valve. If it is leaking there, the pressure in that line will drop causing boost to creep and also messing up with the GA. That line can't leak. |
2 Attachment(s) I logged with the wg only attached, here they are: also note:in the log , i stopped where the GA cut in..this time it cut aboue 1-2psi earlier than when connected to the mbc |
1 Attachment(s) heres a log with only port B plugged in...next log will be with stock bpv on |
An update to the thread...stock bpv did the same thing Then I decided to swap out the line that goes to the WG suspecting there may be a leak.. after I swapped it, the same creep trend as before. Can the WG spring be too stiff now given that when I was running my prior intakes and setups it was perfect? Im going to call in for some help ... @Lex; @Haltech; @JacksonMS30; @rfinkle2; @djuosnteisn; @RichieRichness; @cld12pk2go; @Joe Isuzu; @chimmike; @UnknownSuperhero; dam...this fail is becoming a weekly habit now.. |
Like I mentioned, make sure that line to the WG is not leaking anywhere and that the fitting of the vacuum line to the WG is not leaking. Do this by unplugging the line at the manifold and using a hand pump or compressor to pressurize the line to 20psi. If there are no leaks there can be 2 other problems: 1. The WG is not efficient enough (did you happen to go catless recently?) 2. The WG spring is too stiff. |

I was always catless.. well as of a year and half ago. lol If the line pressurizes and doesnt leak Il swap out the springs in the WG, I just find it very strange how swapping the intake would cause such a large variation Thanks, Il try those things and report back |

Failed Tial wastegate springs - DSM Forums Ran in to this thread.. Anyone running the ewg off the turbo housing have the diaphragm fall apart? I'm potentially going to have to look for a new mounting solution.. or build a water cooler for it.. |
Nevermind, thought you were iwg on the 3071. You should talk to @NJSPEED3; or @doubleflusher; about this issue. |
What's the condition of your boost cuntroller? Is is new? Have you disassembled it to inspect the ball/seat? |

Coolant from anywhere will be much cooler than exhaust so you can tap into anything that is convenient. |
