Boost Leak test doubt

1 Attachment(s)
Ok this is my boost leak tester I was able to build with the parts suggested on this forum.
I have an idea of how the boost leak test is done but I still have a few doubts. Do you turn on the key switch before starting the engine so the throttle barely opens when pressurizing the engine or not?
How do I know the bpv is leaking while doing boost leak test?
The bottom line is what is the proper step by step of doing the boost leak test on this car so I don't miss out anything. I've read boost leak test from other vehicles but every car is different. Thanks in advance for your help.

You do not start the car. hahaha! How could you anyways when the boost leak tester is connected to your intake? Think about it for a moment.

You can either connect your device to the TIP after removing the air filter, or directly to the turbo inlet after removing the TIP completely.

You will need to plug the breather on the valve cover going to your TIP. I did on mine anyways. That's it. Then pressurize to 12-16 psi or so. Use soapy water in a spray bottle to look for leaks or just listen.

You're looking for leaks from the turbo inlet>TMIC>Cold Pipe (Throttle body inlet). Additionally EBCS and BPV if you leave the TIP connected. The BPV will be pressurized on both the inlet and outlet. If I missed something here someone chime in and correct me. I don't do this everyday!

Lots of videos on YouTube as well.

I thought you were getting boost leak check mixed up with compression tester or leak down check :-)

"You will need to plug the breather on the valve cover going to your TIP. " Do you mean by this to plug the line from the air compressor and simply inject air up to 16 psi and then simply watch or listen for leaks and that's it? Remember my adapter has a stern valve not a quick connector type so i would have to inject air just like you do with a normal tire.
By the way i knew that it couldn't be with the car on, what i meant was to have the key to the position right before starting engine. The adapter was build to connect to tip so that's were i will be connecting it.
After i simply presurize the system, how do i know bpv is leaking? Sorry but it is the first time i will be doing a boost leak test on a ms3. My adapter is 2.5" because that's the id jbr told me it was for their tip.

My valve cover vent hose went to my intake. Not my TIP. So I put a plug on it at the valve cover. Then connected my leak tester to the TIP inlet.

I pulled the quote below from link above. All you had to do was search man. And no, you don't need the key on.

You may want to pull off the recirc tube from the bpv and block it as well. That way if your BPV is leaking and opening under boost, you'll be able to detect it. If the recirc tube is left in place, it'll pressurize both sides of the valve, and you'd never know if you had a leaky bpv.
