Boost leak tester question I came across this thread and was wondering if some of you know if this leak tester cap and coupler sizes would work on a gen 2 because as you can see, this is for gen 1. I plan on using these materials but weren't sure if these would work so want to make sure before spending money. Thanks in advance for you help. http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...er-15-a-81055/ |
I can't see you mod list on phone app. What intake and where are you going to test from? Sent from my SM-N930P using Tapatalk |
I have the JBR stage 2 intake and tip which I don't know if it's 2.5", 2.75" or 3" on the tip where the sri connects. Do you happen to know what is the size? I know the best place to do the test is connecting it straight on the turbo but its to uncomfortable to reach so, I only have 2 places left, either connected to the tip or built one to connect straight into the jbr maf sensor adapter and just take out the filter and do the test. What do you guys recommend, do it on the tip or the maf adapter? I have to decide because if I do it on the maf adapter, the coupler and cap have to be of bigger size. Ive also been reading in other forums about some recommending to block the inlet recirc on the tip while testing and after finishing the test, having to depressurize the system so i'm in doubt here so should I do this? If you could clarify this for me, I would appreciate it. |
Test at the TIP if you cant get to the compressor housing. There is no need to block the recirc line, if its leaking you want to know. There is nothing to depressurize after the test. |
Thanks guy for taking the time to answer. Do you happen to know the coupler size i should get? I have a jbr sri w/tip. The reason why i decided to mention the recirc inlet block is because someone mentioned that it was a way of knowing if the bov was leaking. |
I wouldnt buy a coupler. Just remove the metal insert from your TIP inlet and clamp your tester directly in the tip. Measure the metal insert to size the right cap. |
What type of cap would insert into the tip without the coupler? For a second i thought of buying a cap that would insert on the sri where the maf housing inserts and just test from there but the problem is the battery box in case i have to tighten anything i would have to take apart the battery box in order to reach tip and turbo connection |
Just a regular pipe cap thats the right size. |
