Brake noises

So I just got my new 2011 Speed 3, but I have a question. When I pull into my driveway, going slightly uphill, and put the brakes on lightly, there is a distinct frictional sound that appears to be coming from the brakes. When I apply them more fully, the sound stops. I know this sounds odd; has anyone had similar experiences???

I had the same problem occasionally during my break-in period of my new MS3. I have about 1300 miles now and it's gone.

Same issue on mine, coming only from the passenger side, of course my car only has 270 miles on it, I'm sure it will dissappear as the pads/disks wear in a little.

Glad to know it's not just me, and that it should disappear. Thanks.

Mine makes a clunk sound and then friction until I go forward ....I have 1200 milesmiles

Our '11 MS3 does the same thing. It has about 2,000 miles and still does it occasionally, but not as often as it did to start with.

My new 2011 does this too- when turning and stopping or backing up. It's a distinct clunk sound. Hoping it will lessen or go away after break in as others have suggested. i have 340 miles on mine.

I too hate it when my brakes make friction....ee-noises

better than a squeek imo.

I have 1500 miles now and haven't had the problem at all. Only right after I wash the car, but that's because of oxidation in the rotors. If the problem is constant and persists past 2K miles, I'd take it in to the dealer.

I got same thing. 400 miles

BTW, the clunk noise may be the ABS system doing a self-test.

Whats with the noise that everyone is experiencing. i guess its the price we pay for buying a cheap car with powerful engine. I started having not too loud, but decent loudness coming back from rear passenger side. when im driving on the highway, sound is gone, but through a parking lot at a low speed, i get thing clunk noice as if a part of my bumper is hitting the wheel. i hear it every 20feet i drive through a parking lot. also its worse when i pass speed bumps. i need to find out what it is, cus its worrying me to death. anyone have similar problem?

mine does the same things, especially noticeable at slow speeds when the brakes are warmed out. I think the brakes drag ever so slightly and that's what makes the noise. doesn't bother me and I've learned to ignore it already.

Lol, once you do your first brake job you'll understand where and how the clunk noise and friction-ee noises are made :)
