Building a Toolkit

It's been a great kit for home use. My parents bought it for me a couple years ago and it's gotten me thru every basic project I've needed it for, even used it when I pulled my engine on my El Camino, altho I did also use air tools, but if I didn't have them this kit would have been everything I needed except pry bars and pliers. The only thing it didn't have was a E8 torx for the HPFP.

Get a Husky or Kolbat ~200 piece set, then add from there as needed. Quality the first time, goes a long way and they are pretty decently priced too. If the set doesn't have ratcheting closed box wrenches, pick up a metric set as well.

My parents bought me a basic set when I was ~16 or so. It was probably about the $100 standard issue Craftsman set. I probably still have almost all of those tools. Among the other tools that I've purchased in the 30 years following, I'd have to say that the gear wrenches are now used the most.
