A/C shuts off approximately 5 seconds after turning on the vehicle.

2013, Gen 2. Start car, press A/C, light turns on, 5 seconds later, light shuts off, keep pressing button, won't turn on, FML, 30c outside today.

Any ideas why? Fuses appear to be fine for A/C. I do have a CEL for EGR which I haven't deleted yet.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My first guess would be that it's low on freon. It's trying to start up, but won't make pressures within spec so it gives up before damage.

Great theory. Another member on an alternative board mentioned he has a small pinhole in his hard line. His TMIC piping rubbed a rubber portion thus creating a hole. Im just going to pop into the dealer to see what they can do for me.

I was thinking low on refrigerant as well. With your RMM I'd assume you can feel if the compressor is turning on or not. A lot of them won't even turn on if there isn't enough refrigerant in the system.

If you do happen to have a pin hole leak, they should be able to add a florescent dye to the system during recharge that will help locate said leak.

Good luck!

Thanks for the reply. No compressor kicking on at all. I'm sure we've narrowed it down now. It'll be going into the shop tomorrow.
