Can a steering wheel be leveled without performing alignment?

The alignment that was performed recently left my steering wheel on a tilt. I called the dealer and they told me it was a simple adjustment that would not mess with the alignment.

Is it really possible to do this?

Wouldn't they need to repeat the alignment process?

Just wondering

From what I know it is an alignment that effects how the steering wheel sits.

You can just lift up car and do equal turn on both tie rods in the same direction whichever way opposite of steering wheel off (left or right) to even out the steering wheel. It obviously will change your toe settings but if you keep it equal on both tie rods you wont have any issues.

You already had a thread on this.... why start another one?

Because that question was not addressed.

Thanks, that perfect.

They wouldn't just correct it for you since they're the ones who performed the alignment that caused it? I had the same issue and the shop asked me to just bring it back and they took care of it, they were more thorough the second time around with making sure it actually did track straight

Are you asking if tilting your steering wheel affects your alignment? Or is your steering wheel off center.

Need to get some terms straight here.

^This... OP did you try asking them if they would take another look and fix their mistake, or just assumed they wouldn't? Can't hurt to at least ask...

Simple fool. Tilt your head in the direction the wheel is turned.

Keep it that way. Drive off.

We will see next Tuesday, when it is in for warranty work.

Things are simple. The steering wheel will not sit straight if:
1. you hit something (a huge pothole, side walk, whatever) and something in the steering/suspension is bent (control arm, strut, strut mount, steering tie rods, sub-frame, and so on).
2. the alignment was done by a baker or some baker worked on the car and doesn't even have an idea that what he did/unscrew/whatever affected the alignment, that being the reason why the service manager insisted there must be some other reason (global warming probably).

You say it's not #1 since the problem appeared _AFTER_ they did some work on the car. So it's #2 . Take your gun with you next time you leave the car in. This is how I do (well, guns are illegal here so I always leave a small ax/hatchet in the trunk to be seen).
