i'd have to be pretty hung over to forget that cap.
even still, i've done an oil change, filled the crank case, capped it, turned and puked down the sewer grate one morning after a wild party. so hung over enough that i probably wouldn't even be doing an oil change to begin with.

If it's on the low mark, half a quart shouldn't be enough to make it all the way back to full. If you just got your oil change, where did all the oil go? These cars don't kill oil like that. When you check your oil level, was your car running or off?
