Me too. Is it a heavy clunk, or almost like a click? I heard it may be the brake sticking on one side, but I haven't had a chance to thoroughly check it out.

Problem is, it's hard to listen specifically to the brake while you're in the car, but apparently if you can jiggle the brake by hand and hear a clicking, that's what it is. @Spilly feel free to chime in again on this.

Mine used to be that way, but now it happens more often than that, like under engine braking, and anytime I go in reverse.

Oh yeah, good news for me is that you can help me diagnose it at the Tail of the Dragon. Good news for you is that if it's something serious, you'll all get a good show when I go flying off the mountain.

Haha. I hope not. But for shits and giggles here's a video

On to the noises. If you are hearing a single click when the car is changing directions low speed (reversing from a stop, going from stopped to forward, or anything like that) it is most likely the front bake pad shifting. Not sure why it's so noisy and why it does this and how to fix it, but nothing to worry about.

Same thing here, I think is something near the right wheel, it always make the same sound when I turn left in reverse.

lol at the dealership with my ms3 for this right now.

it does it more frequently in reverse with the wheel turned the whole way one direction or the other. It also seems to happen when it's cooler out, I can't replicate it in this heatwave.

one thing I thought it could be is a swaybar endlink or one of the front springs binding.

well dealership couldn't replicate it, I couldn't either this morning or the past week even, it seems to do it when it's colder out. hopefully it cools off again and we have a few 50 F mornings, I'll try to capture it on video and show the dealership.

Mine happens in 90+ degree weather, don't know that temp is the issue. Maybe whatever your issue is isn't advanced enough to make the sound very often.

it's a good point, it did it for 3 days straight, then randomly stopped. I did drive it hard as fuck the 3rd day on the way home. There is a back road that is super twisty that I rip on and it stopped doing it after that. I'm thinking more that it's a suspension component that's binding up. like a coil spring or something...

Mine does it too, new 11 with 1900 miles. Always in reverse does it when going over a bump or the drainage gutter at the end of the drive way with the wheel turned slightly. Does not do it often enough to replicate it on a regular basis to bring to dealer. I suspect brake caliper movement or something loose- perhaps shock or strut mounting bolt or just loose tolerances. Not enough of an issue for me yet. If it gets worse I will try to find it myself.

Has anyone figured this out yet? My genpu started doing it after I made sure the JBR RMM was tightened down to torque specs. It couldn't be the RMM, though, as I can only get it to happen on a cold or near-cold start, while backing out of my inclined driveway with the wheel turned sharply left/right.

I know the Gen1 clunking came from loose FSB endlinks and/or cracked strut bearings. Since the Gen2 suspension is a little different from the Gen1 (in what manner, I don't really know), maybe there's a different component causing the clunks

someone made a mention on another thread somewhere, that all 4 of their sub frame bolts weren't torqued down as much (he was able to turn them another quarter turn). my dealership told me they went over all the bolts anyhow and checked torque. I have a feeling they just checked to see if anything was lose, but didn't tighten it anymore.

I'm gonna go get the FSM and see what the torque specs are, and torque them myself to see if it stops. It doesn't happen frequently, I'm only at 5800 miles.

Page 1290 in the complete guide, section 02-13-14.

look's like the rear bolts 99-129 ft lbs, and the front bolts are 65-85 ft lbs. seems weird they give you a range and not a specific torque. I'll report back maybe later this week once I have a chance to put the car on ramps again and check these.

honestly I just haven't had a chance to mess with it. I'm supposed to go to one of the last test and tunes at Pittsburgh Raceway on Saturday, however, if I don't make it, I have every intention of cleaning the car and installing my winter wheels/tires.

I can put the car on ramps and then try to tighten everything.

mine honestly only does it randomly in reverse when I turn the wheel a lot. I haven't heard it in awhile

I give up for now. I've taken it to the dealer 3 times. The first time, they tightened the subframe bolts. The second time, they tightened pretty much all related suspension parts (endlinks, strut nut, swaybar, etc.). The 3rd time, I had them inspect the driver-side front strut assembly, since the upper bushing cracking was another possible problem.

Nada.

The clunks don't bother me as much anymore, and they definitely seem to have reduced in frequency since the last dealer visit. But they're still very much there, and I'm tired of paying their diagnostic fee to continue trying to find the problem.

I could stock out and have them inspect it for free, but that's a lot of work to do for a seemingly simple clunk.

My passenger side mount is a JBR 70 duro unit, and the clunk was there even before that, so it's definitely not that

My 2011 has been doing this since I bought it. It seems to only be at start-up and only when I am BACKING out of my garage. It doesn't seem to require too much turning to make the clunk. I just assumed break build-up or whatnot. Interested to see if anyone is able to resolve this...

My 2011 is completely stock still and it's been doing it constantly since it's had a 1000 miles on it or so.

And like the rest of you guys, it's only when I'm backing out of my garage at home, or my parking space at work. It seems to happen less when I back out somewhere where I'm there for a short amount of time.

It bothers me, but I really don't want to go waste hours at the dealership with no result.
