That clunking thunking noise 1st to 2nd
 

So I normally launch from a dig like a Roo Paul , I generally baby 1st to 2nd gear. However on a couple of occasions if I rev over 3k and then shift to 2nd it sounds as if my engine or tranny fell out the car, a massive bang noise. MY13 owned since new and have driven stick nearly all my life so not a noob. Im thinking perhaps the mounts are loose or too much play in the drive shaft ? Your thoughts appreciated.

When you say you rev over 3k and shift to 2nd do you mean a hard shift? Sounds like you may need to upgrade your RMM - its the motor hitting the firewall.

Not really hard per Se. 1st upto or around 3- 3.5K rpm then press down clutch pedal and shift to 2nd then bang. I think the noise occurs even before I release the clutch pedal up.

... and yes, before I upgraded my RMM and I had just bought the car I was trying to show off and tried to do a "rolling burnout" in 1st and I thought my engine had fallen out. lol

The bang was unmistakable and I replaced the mount a week later and haven't had anything like it since.

Like everyone else is saying, change out the RMM. I drove one with the JBR RMM and the difference was like night and day.

I think you are onto something with the above response. Although there was no wheel spin when the bang occurs.
