Clutch Question

Sup all,

New to to the forum and thought I'd kick off my posts with a quick question.

I've got a 2010 Mazdaspeed 3 and I love the hell out of this thing. A few night ago I was testing some 0-60 times with a friend. At one point I was at a dead stop and launched, the car moved forward but rather slowy in 1st gear and the RPM was pegging out. I threw it into second and same thing so I backed off. This entire event lasted maybe 3-4 seconds tops. I was revving a bit when I launched...maybe in the 3k range.

Anyways, you could smell the clutch a bit coming through the interior and of course outside. My question is, how long does this smell linger around? 4 days later I can still smell it but it's not as strong as it was so it seems like it might be dissapating. I pretty much have to put my nose against the scoop to smell it.

I feared clutch damage at first but there is no slippage, weird sounds etc. Just the smell. So I'm assuming there is no damage and I got lucky, or it would be noticeable in some way.

Any advice? This is my first turbo car too so I think I learned a little something that night;)

Thanks guys!

Note: I probably should of put this in the "Engine" section so my bad. Please relocate it if need be.

Sounds like you overheated the clutch. And or maybe glazed it but doesnt sound like it since you say its not slipping. If you go wot and it slips then its glazed. Ask me how i know. Advice if its glazed. Dump it at like 70 in third a few times, and slow stall it on purpose.

Thank bro I appreciate it. I'll try a dump into 3rd but I'm pretty sure I already have a couple times with no slippage.

I'd assume the SPeeds have a more heavy duty clutch setup than a normal Mazda 3 and that you'd have to do this quite a few times before putting any serious wear on it.
I'm assuming...........
