Cobb catback for gen 2 is coming out

Hi all,

Maybe someone already mention it before but i just got confirmation from Cobb today by email as below:


We should be releasing the MAZDASPEED3 Gen2 Cat-Back Systems really soon, in-fact, we should be receiving them in a bout a week, then we will need to a quality control check on them. We will have a press release on our website as well as the forums when these are available for sale. If I can assist you with anything else, please let me know.

So is a Cobb catback worth having? A lot of people are against doing anything to the stock exhaust, as it seems fine as it is? Or no?

There already several high priced catbacks out there, not saying there not good just more than i wanted to spend on a catback.

Cobb makes good ass products no doubt, but the catback will be super pricey you can bet on that.

doesnt cobbs dp neck down to 2.5" to mate up to stock cbe? if so, i wonder if their cbe is gonna be 2.5" or 2.5" and taper back out to 3".

Yeah I went to cobb SoCal about a week ago and they are ready to go there just finishing up the packaging and their intercooler should be done be summer

Good point, they should make a full 3" DP for their new CBE. This is why CP-E and CS has my attention for the DP.

strange, i emailed Cobb about this on the 1st. haha I also asked about the FMIC

We are expecting a large batch of the MAZDASPEED3 Gen2 Cat-Backs here in a couple weeks then we will do a quality control check on them and if everything looks good, they will be available at that time. As far as the FMIC Kit, we keep having issues with our suppliers on the intercooler cores and so this continues to push back the release of the kit. Unfortunately, we do not have any dates for availability on the FMIC Kit. We will however have a press release on our website and the forums when the Cat-Back System is available. If I can assist you with anything else, please let me know.

doubt they would change the design. There is at best a 1hp difference between the cobb and the rest. What I would look for is the cheapest price between the top brands to get the best possible dp for the cheapest price.

There is more difference between going catless and catted but even that is a difference of maybe 3hp and 5tq.

Yep, the best for the price when it come to DP. I think CS has the best design, and for $580 the price is ok. As for a CBE, well, with the K04 it's not needed.

I wonder if the 80mm (3") option would fit the OEM CBE? I may go with a GTX3071R in the futur, and I will upgrade the CBE then. I know that the CP-E DP fits with the OEM CBE.

I think Cobb doesn't have a choice to make the CBE, CS, UR and CP-E have their turbo back already.

Funny that you say that. The greddy Cbe is a y pipe after the axle with two fart cans where our tips are

i dont think cobb actually makes anything themselves, they just design it and have another company fab the products.

i think stromung makes the cobb exhausts still.
