| Not Ranked : 0 score ::::NOTE:::: The box for the two generations are effectively the same. However, a Gen1 lid will not fit the Gen2 car and vice versa. If you did not want to take advantage of the cold air feed on the Gen2 box, you would need a Gen1 box with a Gen2 lid for it to work or you'll have a hole in your box sucking in under hood air. The Gen2 box is more expensive because the lid is larger/deeper and the tooling is more expensive, plus it requires an additional machined ABS piece to fit the silicone tube from the factory air feed and supporting hardware. Our costs are very much a function of material and R&D costs...

| Not Ranked : 0 score Quick question - in the photo showing the SF intake + airbox has two rubber gromets that are used when attaching the maf housing to the bracket... simple enough. In the guide for the airbox installation, you need to remove the maf housing from the bracket and secure the housing to the airbox with 3 m5x20 butten head cap screws - the bracket is secured to the maf housing with the bottom two screws - the gromets aren't mentioned. It's a bit confusing why they would be included in the kit - but aren't used. The reason I'm asking is I've recieved my airbox today, but still waiting on the intake. so, TL;DR - you don't use the gromets if you are installing both sf/airbox?

| Not Ranked : 0 score No rubber isolators are used with the box. The box is nice and snug in there and holds the SF from bouncing around too much.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I had the same "set up" from COBB on my WRX and it was 100$ less to purchase. I don't see how the MS3 version of this intake has an increased value to the customer equivalent to 100$. Not cool. That being said, I really loved the intake on my WRX: great built&quality. Pricing stuff is complicated and it certainly doesnt come down to only "lets make it as expensive as people are willing to accept". That's definitely not the case.

| Not Ranked : 0 score Ok, installed the Genpu airbox and this is my take... Pretty basic install - however, the air inlet tube is a little tough to get on. and I found a fitment issue with the lid... one of the holes doesn't line up, it's off by about an 1/8 of an inch. I had to elongate the hole. I've included a picture. Other than that, with a bit of dexterity and skinny fingers it's not too bad.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I think I'll be opening up the size of the holes in the lid a bit to allow for some more play. That way, it doesn't need to be some "dead on", ya know? If you install that screw first, then it should be good to go.

| Not Ranked : 0 score It reminds me how we used to get screwed up at the pump with the gas price. The funny thing was the justification about the price increase. It goes like this: Saddam Hussein had migraine last night, that's why gas price is going up in the states..... Oh, a tree felt from his bag yard, for that same reason gas price is going up....... Oh, it was too sunny in koweit last weekend therefore we are getting gas price increase in the US......... I can go on and on and on....... But fact is the Air box is over priced with respect to the gen1. These are the typical behaviors that have lead to the fact that we can't afford Motorsport as hobby. Don't give me wrong, I'm all for we'll made products and I appreciate them. But manufacturers have to keep in mind the ratio affordability/quality. If it's affordable, every day folks and working poeple will buy them. Just my 0.2 cents. Nice job Btw Cobb.

I've designed a 3.25" SF intake housing that would fit the Airbox. However, business wise, I'm not too sure how much sense it makes when you factor in the cost of injection molding tooling.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I'm fairly certain that that filter would work fine. It just needs to be able to attach to the SF Intake. I think I have that same filter on my car right now. I can go and fit it onto one of the airboxes and get you an answer on Monday. Not 3.5". I have a 3.25" I.D. SF Intake designed and prototyped. But, like I said, tooling cost is pretty high and most likely doesn't justify the product.

I've already got a Cobb intake. This is simply the AEM/K&N Dry-flow option that fits its velocity stack/MAF housing. My only concern was/is that the end of it doesn't interfere with the box's walls or the lid.
