COBB SRI Question

I am no expert by a long shot so if this is a stupid question, so be it. I was looking at the dyno graph for the COBB SRI and turbo inlet pipe. It looks like it changed the peak HP and TQ to about 4000 RPM, then a drop off. The stock is at 5500 RPM. Since there is a drop off after this, wouldn't you have to shift too early to stay in the power spot? It seems like as soon as you shift you are right back to 4000 RPM then accelerating out of the maximum HP/TQ curve.

when your on stock tune, yes you shift at 5500.

Where did you find these dyno graphs? Without seeing them it's a little hard to fathom what you're saying.

This graph is from Cobb's website and relates to the Cobb SF. This graph actually shows the peak power being moved UP the rev range to around 5600-5700rpm instead of the stock peak at 5400-5500rpm. Peak torque is still developed around 3200rpm under stock conditions and with the SRI (at least according to Cobb).

The intake will not change the rpm that the peak hp occurs at. The dyno you are looking at is probably not typical....perhaps the car was knocking the higher rpm, which made the peak power look like its at 4000rpm - but that would not be normal.

I guarantee that peak hp with an intake and stock tune will be 5500ish.

Sorry, I had it backwards. I am talking about the Corksport dyno. I am trying to decide between the CS and the COBB. The COBB has the "air straightener" and the forcing cone thingy magigger, so it sounds better, but the Corksport has the SRI and TIP together and would save me a lot of money. Maybe it would be better to go all COBB or all CS, or all something, or it would be better mismatch a bunch of parts. I am doing some reading and trying to learn but I am anxious to buy some stuff, since I have seen how much power can be added by a few upgrades. I just want to do it right.

OMG! I just looked at the price for CP-E stuff. WOW is all I have to say.

If you go CS on everything you ever buy you will never be disappointed

I think your reading the dyno wrong. Blue is hp for both CS intake and stock intake and red is the torque for both CS intake and stock intake.

I think you thought that the red lines was the tq and hp for corksport and blue was stock.

@Corpsman

Yeah, based on your first post and the graph that you posted later on, it looks like you might've been confused about what the graph actually represented. That graph shows a red and a blue plot for both the before and after situations. The curve that peaks around 4k is the torque curve (in red), and the curve that peaks around 5.5k is the power curve (in blue).

Hopefully that resolves some of the confusion!
