computer learns driving style?

I got my car back in November and of course the dealer filled up the tank for me and the mileage range read 310 miles. My last few fill ups have read 400+ for mileage upon leaving the gas station. Earlier this week I took my car in for a transmount TSB and they unhooked my battery. I just now got gas and my range is reading 310miles again. On average I will have a few 3rd gear pulls but most of the time I have a very conservative driving style, is the computer learning my driving style and adjusting the range for my driving habits?

gasoline + match = problem solved

Range is determined by your MPG. Which will vary depending on your driving style.

The range will rarely read the same numbers at fill up.

You may want to read A LOT more on here before you post more. Failing to understand how MPG fluctuates and how that affects your range shows a lack of common sense.

You do also realize that the MPG and range projections are not based on real miles, but instead on a mythical measurement of "Mazda miles" and therefore are complete garbage?

I understand how MPG will affect range, perhaps you should reread what I posted. When the past 4 fill-ups read 400+ miles and after my battery gets unplugged and the range reads 310 after a fill up makes you scratch your head for a second.

I am NOT new to cars, I always hand calculate my mileage.

I'm not trying to be mean. But this car is not all about mpg! It's more about smiles per gallon. And if mpg is what your after, I bet Toyota will give you a good trade in value for your ms3, if you trade it for a Toyota Prius. :saevilw::buttkick:

The carputer forgot your old average MPG when they unplug the battery, and is now calculating the range based on the new MPG, which consists of Mazda techs attempting smokey burnouts on the back lot. So it's not necessarily your driving style as much as it is the current average Mazda MPG that the range is based upon..

It doesn't learn your driving style, but it does learn fuel trims. After a reset it's possible that it's over-fueling and eventually the trims will lean it out to where it should be. There are also hidden trims, or at least trims that have not been exposed via ATR or VT yet, so those could be having an effect on MPG as well.

My car bends over and grabs her ankles every time I push the start button... so yes, the car definitely adapts to your driving style.

This made me giggle. I literally traded my corolla for my ms3 just because my Toyota was boring the FUCK outta me! Im okay with the mpg going down just because the fun factor had gone through the roof!

This thread could have ended at "yes."

My computer starts at around 400-430 miles a tank, more recently it's been down to 350 because I've been doing pulls and monitoring my shit.
