| You're about 4 months too late. Just had a buddy of mine sell is 07 evo 9 MR for 20k. Fully built motor from bottom to top with BT, cams, full suspension and other shit already installed. 500+ whp... It was a steal IMO. I should have bought that thing, but wasn't ready to buy at that moment. His car was butters; unmolested for the most part and owned by a master tech who was very very very very very meticulous about every little detail. The guy who bought it turned around and sold it a month later for 25K. I don't think the Evo X is a bad upgrade. Just make sure you get the white. White, when blacked out, is sexy on those cars. Especially since the front grille is already black.

(Thread Starter) | Not Ranked : 0 score Yeah I'm not a fan of the paddle shifters so I'd stick with the GSR. I actually did test drive a 2008 and really liked the ride, yes the interior is disappointing but I love the look overall and that matters more to me. I have a friend with a 335, I'd consider those if basic mods weren't so damn expensive. He has also had a lot of issues. The amount of power I'd be able to get out of a evo X, AWD, and the look of the car are the main reasons I'm looking into this. I agree, white evos look so mean, but I'll prob go blue or red. White is such a pain to keep clean. Man, this exhaust too geez: ![]() Appreciate all the input so far!

| Not Ranked : 0 score OP, I'm on the same boat. My 2010 MS3 will be paid off by end of this year and I'll be looking for another car as well. Currently, my wify drives the MS3. She loved it when we first got it, and still does. It's got decent power, good breaks, handles pretty well, and stereo is decent. I have the tech package. However, she's been driving my bmw 135, while I drive the wrx for DD for work. Yeah, I'll have to give up the MS3. She wants a bmw. I'll be looking into 335xi for her. I have thing for AWD. I always thought bmw made only autos for AWD, but they started to make 6sp for it. I don't follow Evos as closely as I do with subies, owing one helps too. Since lot of people are talking about Evos and STIs, here is my 2 cents. Here is what I know about Evos. *** edited *** I re-read your post, and you are looking for Evo GSR. I was babbling about Evo 10. I don't know too much about GSR, and I have not personally have rode on it. Most common issue I read/hear is the rough ride. Evos handle great and they make excellent track/race car but stinks for DD or long drives. Mechanically, I don't hear too much problem. Since you're buying new, warranty should cover it. Evos hold their values well too. I don't know what people are talking about STI being expensive. Whenever I look at cars, Evos are more expensive. And less common. Here is what I know about STIs. Same motor/design for last 5 years or so. No new improvment or design. Many seems to complain about this. Ringland is biggest issue/fear they have. (08+ models) I don't think it's common as people talk about, but still a huge issue. Big item as in, "need a new motor." When people have ringland issues, it's usually driver/mod issue. e.g. going 60mph on 6th gear, and stomping on the gas, thinking it will take off like a rocket. or mod the car, and no proper tune. I own a subie, but I always loved evos. AWD is indeed nice to have in NE area. With some blizzaks, my subie becomes a tank in winter. It's all other morons I have to worry about. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score It's only a natural Upgrade. 260hp, FWD Sport Hatch is just one step under a 291hp AWD "Saloon" as the brits would say it. They pull almost the same G's on the skidpad, similar top speed, etc. I know for a fact my next car will be an Evo. No more FWD for me.

| Not Ranked : 0 score I can't speak for the Evo X, but I just traded in my Ralliart for an MS3. The car was great and fun to.drive, but after 2 and a half years of ownership, everything about that car rattled. Seeing that both cars have the same exact interior and the Evo has a stiffer suspension, I would expect the Evo to rattle worse. My co-worker has a 3 year old garage queen Evo X with 17k miles and hasn't complained much, but after putting 37k on the Ralliart, it was unnerving. I definitely cannot recommend it as a daily driver. |

True story. In my younger days, I loved my nissan se-r. and I used to love thinkering with the cars too. Between myself and my roomate, we had 7 cars. I had 2 se-r and old subie beater. He had 3 se-r and saab spg. During one Monday morning, we realized that NONE of the cars were running. We all took the car apart on a weekend, thinking one of us will have a car. We end up renting a car for a week. ![]() Yup. All of our friends and co-workers made fun of us. Seven cars between two people, and we had to get a rental car. And I'm not willing to let go of my WRX. I put my blood and soul into that thing. No warranty, so evertying that went wrong/maintenance, I did it myself. Been to many auto-x session, and everywhere else. I have almost 200k on the WRX. Still going strong. | |

| Not Ranked : 0 score I have a buddy that has a 2012 STI and a buddy with a Evo 10. 2 totally different cars and the Evo is crap inside once you get past the seats (if you plan on racing Evo seats kick ass, daily driving the STI seats are WAY MORE comfortable). Evo is a lot cheaper to mod and the new STI's are having some engine issues right now and Subaru ISN'T covering them under warranty. My buddies Evo is sitting at 501awhp on pump gas and 568 on q16 running 41psi which is just fun as hell. When I was getting rid of my MS3 I so bad wanted to get the EVO but thought, I am just gonna mod the crap out of it to get the hp I want, waist all that money doing it which is losing a shit ton of reliability once you start modding and still have a car that rides like crap so I just went out and bought a Vette insted. Now if I want to run with my buddies EVO I can spend $4k and be running 10's with him all day long where as you have to spend a ton to get that with the EVO and even more with an STI. If you must go with awd, go with the EVO. Also remember they are not making the EVO anymore after 2013. |

| Not Ranked : 0 score You won't regret moving to the GSR. I just did the same thing Monday. I've been a Mazda guy my whole life - was a tough choice, but the EVO is a lot more raw in a good way. Don't expect creature comforts, etc - but expect a driving experience like none other in the 30-40K range. |
