Blind spot sensors are redundant at best for a good driver. I have ridden motorcycles and driven in some form of racing for most of my life. Situational awareness is second nature to anyone who pays attention to their surroundings while driving. Besides, you only have to worry about people being beside you if you are going slow enough to let them catch you.

I do not blame you for not wanting over 30k on a used turbo, but proper maintenance and not being dumb with car, it should be fine.
I have a 2012 w/o the tech package and I am satisfied with not having the tech package, usually on the weekends I am meeting with a couple other speeds and one of them have the tech package, but it does not make me want it.
Also sounds like a good plan to get a 12 when the 13's come out, but regardless dealers will still try to price rape you on them, so as long as you know how to work/play with dealers you can get one for a good price.

I got mine with the tech package, it was the only one on the lot and the deal was right so I went with it. I was impartial, it was one of those cool whatever scenario's. I will say that I will put the gps unit to work when I move to NC due to having a shitty phone service with unreliabe GPS, so that is my benefit. If I could I would get my blindspot monitoring turned off, but its a good tool for my wife

Good to know. To be honest I have yet to even really crack the owners manual and fiddle around with buttons and what not. I main just strap in and go to where I have to be. If I do turn anything off, I will turn the traction control off for a little fun but that is about it.

thanks

I hear ya. The other button is to turn off the turning headlights if you wanted to for some reason. That traction control button is my favorite to press as well lol

ok just to spice this thing up. my wife and I stopped by the local subaru dealership this morning because they had a 2011 blue MS3 on the lot with 11k on the clock. The dealership wanted 24k for it and it had the tech package. The lowest they were willing to go on it was 24,400.00 after an hour of my wife talking numbers we finally just walked away. We tried to explain to them that they were selling a car that was almost 2 years old, with 11k miles on it for only 1500.00 less than our 2012 with the same options. they gave us some story about how other dealers (Mazda) didnt know how to price the car right and their price on the used one was more accurate....lawlz

FWIW I was researching slightly used (up to 20k miles) Speed3's and can't see why anyone would want to by a used one. Spend the extra $1500 to $2000 and get a brand new not ragged on one.
As far as the tech package goes I personally would want it just for the puhbutton start and rain sensing wipers. I also expect that I'd pay about $24000 minus trade and get as close to 0% financing that is available to get a brand new one... my credit is better than good and I know when they HAVE to sell cars. I own my car and can wait them out. You want your bonus this month you'll sell me a car.

I don't mean ANY disrespect. (I've just earned my tag "The Nut")
Anyway, I just gotta know, if for no other reason than to not make the mistake myself, what happened?

I had been sick for about a week and I was running 104 temp so I finally broke down and went to the Dr. He checked me out and gave me a script for some meds. I went by the walgreens and they said it would be about an hour to fill it. It was about time for an oil change and I felt like garbage and decided to forgo doing it myself, so I took it to the speed-e-lube on Kingston Pike in Lenoir City, TN (little fuck u plug there).

The idiot who changed my oil did not replace the crush washer on my oil plug. I drove the car for the next month and a half while the plug slowly vibrated out. When I was leaving the movie theater (It was the saturday night opening weekend of The Dark Night) my engine knocked. Now I'm no mechanic but I know what an engine knocking sounds like. I had oil pressure and no lights were on so I thought maybe a spark plug misfire or something. I drove it home fine.

The next day I drove it to the dealer and the knocking was slowly getting worse, but only while I was idling. I dropped it at the dealer and they called me and said my oil plug was out. I drove to the dealer and sure enough, my oil plug had backed out about an inch. The oil wasnt leaking while the car was sitting still (hence, no oil spot in the driveway) but when I was driving it would run down the threads, fly off and burn on the underside of the car. The bottom of my car was absolutely covered in oil. I had about 3/4 of a quart of oil left in the engine. Farmers (the oil change place's insurance) sent someone out to look at the car. They accepted responsibility and then called and said they had changed the oil again and the car was fine. I said fuck that, when an engine knocks that is metal on metal contact, thus damage. I told them they were going to tear the engine and the turbo apart and make sure that Subaru was fine disregarding this situation in any future warrenty claims.

We argued for a couple of weeks but they finally agreed to pay for the tear down. The dealer called me a few days later and said there wasn't anything majorly wrong with anything but there were little things wrong with everything. Since the engine only had 18k on it they were going to have to replace the engine and turbo w/ brand new ones. est cost was $24k so they totaled it. I punched a hole in the wall where I worked at the time (mortgage co) and wound up having to sue to get $23500.

I'm sure they just put some thick, high quality oil in it and sold it as-is to some kid who thought he was getting a deal even with a rebuilt title. I loved that car and really wished I had just bought another one then and there. In 2008 Subaru decided to ruin the look of the WRX and I really dont want a 06 or 07 that has been ragged by some kid for 60k miles. So, I decided to buy a 2012 MS3 in a couple of months.

That's a sad fuckin story my friend. I, of course, know what it's like to love my car. And it hurts just to have it jacked up my some douche bag and not be able to rip his head off and drag behind you tied to the rear bumper cause ya DON"T HAVE A CAR ANYMORE! anyway, best wishes wih your Gen2 and I hope the adjustment to a FWD car isn't to bad.
