Default Current CXRacing FMIC opinions

I am researching FMIC. I have recently read several threads on this and still learning the ropes. I see a local deal for a used CXRacing FMIC with pipes for a very reasonable price, $150

Here is a link to the item for sale but used.

Ive read specific threads on this from 2011-16. It sounds like this is a FMIC that works well with stock turbo and the usual SRI, TIP, HPFP upgrades. However, it kind of sounds like there are possibly better options for similar price with protege pipe kits and core on ebay. Also the CX pipes might block the oil dip stick while the protege does not.

I wanted to hear current opinions on the CXRacing FMIC and pipes?

Can I order something closer to $200 total for a FMIC and decent pipes?

Example:
Cheap Core

If you're going for an aftermarket intercooler, there's very little reason to get a FMIC over an upgraded TMIC unless you're actually drag racing on the regular.

My opinion: use the cx racing pipes with a quality core. dont buy that $60 core.

Maybe I'm looking into this stuff too much. Idk. It seems they pretty much provide similar benefits with a slight lead to the FMIC. I guess it would be much easier to do a TMIC.

I have heard the pipes are of decent quality. The core from the CX kit seems to be bolt on with no cutting of the crash bar.

And that core I found from someone else on the site's thread but I can't find the thread to see his outcome any longer.

I am in no rush to do an intercooler, but I see deals come and go and love a good deal. If I had the money a few weeks ago I would have bought a Street unit TMIC on eBay but I grabbed a couple other items instead.

treadstone tr6 should also fit under stock crash bar and it won't have a crazy pressure drop and will flow better.

I feel that there's an inherent flaw in the MS TMIC design. It's just sits too close to the valve cover and restricts the air flow exiting the core. Upgraded TMIC is still an improvement over stock but I always felt it should be performing better given the size of the upgraded cores.

A good FMIC will blow away TMIC. The additional piping creates a little lag but I've accepted that trade-off.

That is my two cents.

From what I've looked into, $150 for even a CX racing FMIC+piping is a steal of a deal. I would much rather have a TR6, TR8c/TR8, or TR10 depending on my end game goals but for that price its hard to say no to.

Alternatively, the next cheapest deal I have found would be $300 for TR8 and undersided piping. I think that guy was desperate. Usually can find that for $400+

Well I offered to buy the CXRacing FMIC. We will see what happens. If I don't like it or find its not what I wanted I could always sell it for the same price I guess.

To follow up. I was unable to purchase the FMIC. The girl selling it was communicating with me until I offered to buy it from her. Sometimes buying items online is great and other times it sucks.
