CX-9 engine... Turbo.... Next Mazdaspeed 3

Yo... so I got the ZoomZoomMag in my email and was reading about the new CX-9. If ya'll remember, long long ago (like 2 years ago) CorkSport sort of predicted/assumed the new CX-9 would end up with a Turbo engine, and that could lead to the basis of the next MS3.

Well according to zoomzoommag.

"The 250hp SKYACTIV-G 2.5T four-cylinder engine, for example, is a brilliant piece of lateral thinking—Mazda’s own research concluded that the average driver rarely uses more than 3,000rpm, so low-down torque rather than outright power represented the best solution for real-world drivability. So the SKYACTIV-G develops a deeply impressive 310lb-ft of torque at just 2,000rpm."

Sounds impressive. That's some crazy torque... (TORQUE STEER BABY).

Check out the rest of the article here.

For what it is worth, I stopped at my mazda dealer checking out new vehicles and one of the managers said there is supposed to be a new speed series vehicle that will be awd and implement the cx9 engine. I usually don't listen to this type of talk but for some reason I believed him (wishful thinking perhaps? I don't know)

I talked with a Manager last time at Mazda and he also told me the next speed will be using new CX9's technology (he went as far as telling me the motor can use either 87 or 91 octane and the motor will produce power based on that octane without possible dammage on the motor).

He also confirmed it would likely be AWD platform with a 2.5T variant (different from CX9's config).

Is it bullshit? Perhaps it is but I can't confirm nor deny.

No official news yet. I've spoken with my DSM, Regional engineer and there is no news yet. That is a good thing though. Mazda's keeping quiet and atleast they're not saying no.

I don't think you got the joke...

As in how Mazda said (or sources) claim the revival of the RX car, then take it back. Few months later say it's been revived again and then take it back.

I don't think Mazda ever claimed that a new RX-7 was coming. What one Mazda engineer/exec said was, it would be great if they can come out with a new RX to coincide with an upcoming anniversary for the RX cars/engines. Mazda did claim that they are continuing work on the next gen rotary engine and the patent application ALPINEST4RS mentioned is proof of it.

I totally didn't lol. I can be slow sometimes.

I got a in at NGK as well. They have been shelving it, bringing it back, shelving it. Right now it is back in development. As NGK develops the OEM plug for it. The patent app. is a nail in the coffin for -- it's coming.

Can't tell you how bad I wish I was still selling Mazdas. At least that was a product I believed in. Currently working at a VW dealership.:owned:
