Damn. I'm glad I didn't get any SURE/SU parts

After reading the account of their poor-quality parts, I'm so damn glad I didn't get anything from them. When got my '13 (on Feb. 9th), I joined MSF and was impressed by the looks of their parts and the polish of the website and parts presentation. I actually had a list of things I was going to buy because I like the idea of having all the same manufacturer. Now, it's clear SURE/SU was all about looks and marketing with no real engineering or safety in mind.

Now, do I go JBR, COBB, cp-e, CorkSport?

Cliffs: Dodged a bullet and I'm so glad.

Dumyz 03-15-2013 03:37 PM

That's what got me back when I bought my parts, they made it all look so appealing so of course I bit on it. I personally haven't had any issues with the parts that I bought from them but who knows what could happen...

And honestly, JBR, COBB, cp-e and Corksport are all great companies to buy parts from. You won't be disappointed with whichever way you decide to take it.

SparkySparks 03-15-2013 03:38 PM

Look over what each have to offer, if you order quick you can get in on some of the deals they are offering now! You can't go wrong with any of them.

I've got stuff from all four, so yeah, they're good to go. For the intake, I chose Corksport just because they were around in my RX7 days. Also, their Stage 2 intake is CARB approved. (Important for CA folks.)

But you know, @jbarone is doing a 10% off sale right now until the 17th. (And I'd be getting some stuff if I hadn't just bought a bunch of stuff for the track...)

Cobbs Sri is also carb approved

ABolewski 03-15-2013 05:59 PM

JBR is going to have the best prices. Followed by CS, the CP-e, the Cobb, generally speaking. For the most part I find Cobb to be over-priced, but they all make amazing products and have awesome customer service. I've got a little bit from everyone too.

JBR 03-15-2013 08:58 PM

I heard JBR makes really kick ass parts at the best prices. It's just what I heard though.

I have a few parts from Sure and I like em. Parts seam good quality, fits good, and haven't had any problems. I actually plan to get there 3" MAF SRi and there new BPV. Looks great to me and Sure and Copp are the only two companies that have the air separater thing in the MAF. Must have some research in there parts right?

Dmurray06 03-15-2013 10:08 PM

Did you NOT read the issues? Their 3" MAF isn't a 3" MAF, it's smaller than that actually. LOL are you talking about the air straightener? If so, a lot of companies have that...

Sorry I didn't know I had to type proper grammar on the Internet, and actually I'm on my tiny iphone screen without tapa. Kind of hard sometimes.

Sorry I guess I missed that one, and Cobb & Sure are the only ones I've seen or noticed. Only had my car a few months.. Still learning.

Corksport uses one, JBR uses one, HTP uses one...fuck, K&N uses one.

If you check my sig I have a pretty big mix of parts among Corksport and JBR. Both are two high quality vendors!

Going to put this in here just so it can be seen by anyone else that is still clueless.

Let's be accurate here, since we're in angry-mob mode again. The SURE 3" MAF housing is 3" at the filter end, 3" at the MAF sensor, and 2.87" at the rear end. So you might say they have a "tight end" or are a bit "anal retentive." Performance-wise, it makes a minimal difference, if any. But it IS 3" at the MAF sensor, which is what matters. Remember that for the OEM turbo variants, it restricts down to 2 inches at the turbo anyway.

What's misleading to some is the name "Full 3," since it implies the ENTIRE intake is three inches inside diameter. Understandable some people feel misled, and I'm hoping they'll put a description of its diameter dimensions on the site to avoid that.

Thanks man! I hadn't seen that thread yet, So yes I was clueless! Found it though this morning after everyone tripping on me! Guess I won't be buying anymore Sure products.

NICKELL666 03-16-2013 08:29 AM

I haven't even been a member that long, but it didn't take long to figure out that I want nothing to do with their parts.

Jbr- win
Htp- win
Cpe- win
Sure- take your chances

I wasn't in angry mob mode, lol.

However, you're right, it isn't a FULL 3" Intake and I didn't state that in my post. So it sounded misleading :)
