Damn! Owned the Genpu for 1 week and about to mod already!

After reading all week I have decided to pull the trigger on some mods. I drive alot so the Pu already has 600 miles on it after only owning it for 6 days. I have been breaking it in nicely and have been really happy with this little bugger. Anyways I'm having the windows tinted this Friday (35/20) and also just purchased the Beltronics Vector 995 radar detector.

But I know nobody cares about that.

I'm putting the finishing touches on my list and order and I will probably place the order this weekend. My list consists of the following after some carefull research:

Sure Anchors
CS Shifterplate
Autotech Internals
CS SRI/TIP (Stage2)
Sure Torque R3 RMM
Cobb A/P

I havent decided if I want to do the DP right now as I want to keep the car somewhat quiet. I understand that the stock DP is pretty restricting and replacing it would free up some decent power but I'm still researching videos and soundclips to find one i like.

And finally a RSB and springs probably before spring.

I am interested in learning how to tune however i understand there is alot to it so for now I will just run a OTS map via the A/P.

Thank you for providing such an informative site MSF!:headbang:

Teethkikr 02-29-2012 08:08 PM

Well done on reading/research.. You are on the right path. Good luck!

bigriver 02-29-2012 08:13 PM

Nice job!

I would suggest race pipe after AP and internals then go Stage2 while you work on your tune.

Oliverms3 02-29-2012 08:15 PM

One week only? Shit... Modded my car right away the time i brought it home for the first time

PDigg 02-29-2012 08:16 PM

This site is pure evil...

I came here to do some research on the car and RMM's and had nothing else planned...

My downpipe is now in the mail and should be here next week.

Dmurray06 02-29-2012 08:16 PM

Finally!!! A newb that has done his research. Good job! The list looks pretty good, trust me once the mod bug bites...it's hard to stop.

captain slow 02-29-2012 08:20 PM

Donation mod and everything. And you drive a pu. It's impressive you're not retarded. The force is strong with this one. Welcome.

turbo test 02-29-2012 08:23 PM

man i'm impressed. It's post like these that re-assure me that not all nubs are stupid.

darth_speeder 02-29-2012 08:33 PM

+1... I had all of my shit (except tunes) within 2 weeks of getting the car. Doing the downpipe now would be a good idea, O2 sensors and bolts haven't had a chance to seize yet and should come right off. Also haven't had a chance to get nasty dirty, probably.

forcedinduktion 02-29-2012 09:32 PM

so BT.....when?

Mortose 02-29-2012 09:34 PM

glad to see an AP on there. good luck with everything!!!

I had my first mods on order the day i got mine home.

Voltron 02-29-2012 10:13 PM

Buying this car, joining this forum, its only a matter of time before you void your warranty. This site is pure fucking evil.

Boatcop1 03-01-2012 05:52 AM

Thanks guys. I cannot wait to pep this thing up a little more. I have been looking into autoX in the CT area and may give that a shot this summer. i feel like I autoX every offramp anyway:drive:

Whatever you do, don't add the engine block window mod! It will save you on gas for awhile, but in the end you won't be happy. Welcome and be ready to have your bank account raped by the never want for fun new things for the car.

LakeSTLMS3 03-01-2012 08:01 AM

Refreshing to see a noob with a mod list of AP and internals on it first.

OP, trust me once you get some extra power from the AP, you wont stop getting mods. We're all addicted here

anavrinIV 03-01-2012 08:26 AM

I had parts on order 2 days after getting my car. I've now had it about 3 months and will be doing my test pipe today or tomorrow. I joined this forum to ask about a used car I was looking and before I ever got the car these fuckers had me on the mod path.

Only thing I would suggest is to look into james barone racing for the shifter stuff and motor mount. It's cheaper, very well built, and you're supporting a member here, a great guy, and INCREDIBLE customer service.

Zoomspeed 03-01-2012 02:40 PM

Yeah I bought my car I already had the Cobb intake lol

Stealth01 03-01-2012 02:48 PM

Before you do any more power mods, DO FUEL PUMP INTERNALS. OTherwise, you get a brand new hole in the block.

Welcome and have fun. The V995's a good RD, too.

Been there with my blown 89 Notch Mustang about 8 years ago. I had a built 306 in it with a Procharger D1SC. Ran out of fuel at the top of the track, she went lean and boom! Lesson learned.

As stated above. This isn't my first rodeo (although it is being a part of the turbo 4cyl crowd).

I freely admit I have a lot of learning to do with this setup, however I have learned that when the masses reccomend something, It's usually a good idea to heed the advice of the experienced.

Hopefully in time I can provide assistance to the members of MSF.

ricknm 03-02-2012 09:52 AM

the JBR rmm was the first thing I bought for my car. Its gold. Makes the car feel bad ass. Easy install and not expensive. You'll love the CS intake and tip as well. I ordered that next along with AP and internals. You will love it after everything is installed

Kydizzle 03-02-2012 10:14 AM

Its awsome to see AP and hpfp internals at the top of lists, noobs are finally researching brings a tear to my eye lol

lol thanks.

And to the others I decided to go with JBR RMM and shifter kit. Price was waaay too good to pass up. Thanks for the reccomendations!

Boatcop1 03-02-2012 07:00 PM

Ok well so far the CS SRI/TIP have been ordered. I have also ordered JBR 5mm wheel spacers, Cobb AP mount and JBR shifter plate and counter weight.

Eric gave me a sweet deal on the AP, AT Internals and CP-E Catted DP. Just waiting for him to get back to me and I'm done.....For now!

I've read mixed reviews so far on colder plugs. I think I may go one step colder just to be safe. Please chime in on the plugs if you have thoughts.

Thanks MSF

Dmurray06 03-02-2012 09:02 PM

Good luck finding some itv22s...diamonds are easier to buy lol...

speedthrice57 03-03-2012 01:45 AM

popped my cars cherry 1st week as well...

ASHMS3 03-03-2012 02:16 AM

As far as plugs go, you are probably okay for now. Unless you see high KR when you start logging. The plugs may help there. Someone with more expierience chime in here. I am trying to help but going off of memory of reading, not doing.

My car has 500 miles on it and i have fell victim as well! LOL awesome mod lisdt if i had the cash for my entire list i would be in the exact same boat! Rode in a full bolt-on 50/50 e85 tuned Gen2, and that was all she wrote!

Bosox 03-03-2012 11:58 AM

I am at 16,000 miles and finally am modding. The problem with modding this car is that in order to do it correctly you are into it for a G off the bat. It is pretty clear that the first mod (maybe except for RMM) should be an AP. Then you are crazy not to also do internals, but you don't want to spend that much without a decent payoff so it is only logical to get an intake too.

I just tried to get a CS Stage 2 but all they had was blue silicone and I am not too sure if I like that. Were you able to get black or red?

I'm with you. I ordered all black and the order seemed to go through ok. I'm not into all the colors under my hood.
