Well said. You show tech the wheels and car indicating no damage present he signs off on it. Then you get car and is scratched and they have no leg to stand on. Else it's your word against theirs.

This is no shit. Ordered my pilot super sports through Sams Club. My thinking was either I will get the best price or they will fuck up my wheels on the install but they are big and will fix them. Well, they fucked up one wheel but offered to replace it........until the $600ish dollar price tag was known. They then said they would have to get corporate approval bla bla. Since my scratch wasn't that deep I agreed to have it filled and re powder coated for $150 and a $200 Sams Club card. In the end I was happy but my Saturday Morning new tire excitement turned into a week of BS fail.

That manager that said his tire machine didn't make that scratch is either a liar or moron.....or both. Nice work @kritz; way to handle business.

I was an assistant manager at Discount Tire in Greenville, SC for a few years. Those gouges are caused by not adjusting the duck head correctly on the machine. The duck head is a nylon head that goes between the bead of the tire and the lip of the wheel. You can adjust the arm with the duck head up and down and can move it in with a screw mechanism so that it does not come into contact with the wheel. It baffles me how the tech didn't notice after the first wheel. I have seen that exact damage happen before. I am surprised that it took as much effort as it did to get them to take care of it. They are usually more competent admitting and taking care of mistakes. I am glad it worked out.

Talked to the service manager about my car the whole time it was getting worked on, and about family and other small talk, really cool guy and he liked the speed alot (hes a civic owner, yes I know).

Car finished up and walked out and got my papers and went on my way. At this point my eyes were burning and it was time to hit the sheets. Woke up around 5 or 6 and went out to clean up the mess all over the rims. Thats when I noticed the front two wheels have 6 inch gouges around the edge of the rim, and it looks like something dug into the wheels at the beginning of the marks. All four wheels also have big ass chip marks around the lug nuts.

I keep my shit pretty clean and I just dont think thats cool. I tried to call them up to let them know but they closed at 6. Sucks, I should have checked my shit before I left, hopefully he will man up and do something for me. I dont expect new rims or anything, but some kind of acknowledgement or small case of generosity would be nice.

Well see going there now.

I got the dr-33's. I like them. However, they were free from a buddy. If I had to pick from a drag set it would deff be the dr-38's. I love those.

I had a similar incident with discount tire and pointed out the issue right away before leaving the parking lot. Always bring the car sparkling clean in and have the manager walk around it with you. They scratched 2 wheels and paid in full to have them refinished.

I wanted the DR-38s (twelve spoke), but they don't make them in Bronze for the 18". 17" only.

I got the DR-31s (ten spoke) instead, as I had my heart set on a darker wheel to go with my black car.

Drag makes a good wheel for the price point. Only 22.5 lbs for my 18x8s which is lighter than some other similar brands like Motegi or Ultra will put out, in similar looking wheel.

I was quoted at $205 from Discount for the same size. A few months later they put some nice and deep gauges in the center of the spokes on one of them. Only found out once I took them out of the bag and was at an autocross in the Vegas area (SLC shop did the work). They refused to do anything about it no matter who I called and insisted that a cone did it.

DR-34's look real good I'd get those

I got DR-33's for my winter set in 16's they barely clear the calipers but I got some meaty tires on there lol

Made the call for the dr38s in silver. He's not very good at calling me back so I gave him the backup option of the dr34s in silver if he couldn't make the 38s happen. He said he's going to get the approval and them order them.
Hopefully wont be much longer, but fuck it , free wheels are free.

The bronze dr31s were tempting me too. Just a tad darker than I wanted to go. Still a nice looking wheel though .

Hey 98zjdave,

That is not cool the way the tech handled your wheels. I recently bought new wheels for my 11, and mounting tires on rims is one of the things most people don't have the equipment for. I took all four wheels off the car and brought the new wheels and stock wheels to Firestone and literally backed up to the garage and handed one wheel at a time to the tech and stood next to him while he mounted each tire. I know its annoying but he said he understood and would do the same thing. He also told me about a horror story where one of the former employees scratched all 4 rims on a brand new challenger and the shop had to replace them. Did you buy your MS3 from Jenkins? I did and have the same year, color, with tech. Hit me up I'm in Gainesville send me a message with your email and maybe we can meet up.

Man I dont blame you one bit for being right there. I think alot of people forget about how easy it is for a shop to do damage to your wheels. I usually check, and am really anal about my car every time it leaves a shop. I was just so super tired from working all night and staying up for 2 days straight I was ready to go. Big mistake.

Didnt buy it from Jenkins, they wanted like 32k for the techs I was looking at. I literally would go there every weekend, test drive a car, and hassle them to come down on the price. I did that when I bought my first gen, and second gen, they just didnt wanna budge. I have a few friends that work there as techs/mechanics, its a good place though.

Called discount today because its been a week and no word on the wheels. He was honest and admitted he was super busy and didnt do shit with the info he wrote down on the wheels. At least he was honest. So we went at it again, this time I got him to order while I was on the phone with him. The dr-38's were a no go, no warehouse had a full set other than black and red striped shit. So I ordered the dr-34's in silver. Ended up getting them from a closer Ohio warehouse, so they should be here in 3-4! Fuckin' excited.
