So KMD is replacing the internals, on defect, and shipped a new set yesterday.

So those of you who claimed install fail...suck my dick.

mrlilguy pumps used KMD internals, didn't they? There's got to be some OG guys running those here.
Ive had KMD internals for going on 4 years. Bought from Ken at Protege Garage. Installed myself. Nearly 40K miles of high pressure. WTF happened to these guys?

I look forward to your next set failing, just after all of your family members eat bullets for being related to you.

Ok, so it wasnt an install error, still no need to bitch and complain like a little girl and bash a company.

21k on KMD internals with full e85 and 110% injector duty cycle. If KMD sold a spill valve i'd buy that too.

If you wine like a bitch long enough, most legitimate companies will give into you.

Did you really copy and paste all the names in your thread that doubted your ability? Well, I still doubt your 'ability' and on top of that you're a sad, small man who is in dire need of an ego boost.

Sorry bro, you still lost.

I didn't bother reading the entire bitch fest but I do need internals. Can I get a Cliff's note version of whether I should buy KMD or Autotech?

get either kmd or autotech. both are perfectly fine and aside from op, i have never heard of them failing besides install error. i have heard of ptp failing and seen them, but i am not here to bash him. i personally have had kmds for 20k++ and have NEVER had an issue. plus they were very nice when i went to the shop to get them

I just had KMD's fail on me. There was play between the shaft and collar. I just got Autotech's and all is well now. KMD won't admit it but they must have had a bad batch. This was the email I received from them:

I’m sorry about the trouble your experiencing but we’re here to help so thanks for the opportunity to assist you!

I’d like to first clarify the statement about creating a bad batch... You can rest assured that there is no known “bad batch” out on the market as I assure you that the batches we have sold to date were quality controlled to the highest degree possible prior to being sold. Please allow me to go further into detail… When we receive the fuel pump kits from the machine shop (who are based in the USA, not international) we quality control them internally, which includes (but is not limited to) a visual microscopic inspection, micrometer measuring, light testing, etc., prior to shipping them out. On some occasions we have had to return batches back to the machine shop to be redone because the kits failed our internal quality control, however, those kits were not sold to or used by any customers. Even if it it's for the most minor thing and/or even if we don't feel 100% comfortable with the batch we send it back to the machine shop right away because we don't take chances. We stand behind our products 100% so we wouldn't just put a questionable item out there for the sake of a sale. Customer satisfaction, product quality, and product reliability is so much more important to us.

With that said, we certainly don't claim to be faultless. Like anything else and just as with any other manufacture (regardless of product), there is a percentage of production defect (which we're proud to admit is a small percentage) and that's why we offer the warranty policy we do, which is in-line with the industry standard. If anyone for whatever reason (whether it's a matter of production defect, installation error, housing defect/failure to replace or remedy old housings, excessive abuse/neglect, etc.) ever has a problem with a kit we will always gladly accept a warranty claim for it (for complete details on our policy please refer to the Terms and Conditions section of our website: Terms & Conditions - KMD Tuning & Engineering or page 1 of the install instructions that came with the kit). We don't turn our back or turn anyone away because customer satisfaction is our top priority so we will always do whatever we can to help.

Just had my KMD's fail on me as well. After having to wait on them for 2.5 months because of quality control, and now this. Blahhhh

If you even have to think about which internals to buy you're either:
A: Haven't searched
B: Retarded
C: Haven't searched and retarded

The running pumps to failed pumps ratio is pretty obvious.
They would both have the same ratio of install error as well, so it's pretty obvious which to go with

I've had the KMD V2 internals for about 10K miles, still holding 1800+ PSI just fine. I've personally installed 6 other sets of KMD's for others in my area, and all are doing just fine.

Congrats. The failure rate is low, but they are failing more than others on the market. Don't get defensive, it is a definitive statement that they are more failure prone. The VW guys knew this before us and actually pointed me towards the Autotechs back when I got mine from CTS Turbo, a VW performance shop.

Not getting defensive at all, just wanted to put my .02 cents out there. The guys in my area are running KMD's and we are doing fine so far.

I remember at one point I saw a how-to article on here that recommended soaking the internals in gasoline prior to install and was like WTF is the purpose of that. A tiny little spec of dust in there can eventually cause problems... it's all about a clean environment and a proper install.

Just sayin, the people bashing the KMD's make the issue sound worse than it really is. Every part has a small failure rate, no matter who makes them. I would be willing to guess out of all of KMD and Autotech failures, at least 90% of them were install error.

Agreed that most of these failures would be install error. FYI, when I install them I spray them down with brake cleaner then soak them in fresh oil. People dont like that method, either, but it works.

That's exactly how I do mine. Use neoprene gloves, do it in the garage with the door closed so no dust ect is blowing about, and spray them well with brake cleaner. Then don't set them on a rag or some shit with lint on it, a nice clean piece of plastic. Then spray the pump out as well as well, oil everything down and install. Should be golden on any set if done in that manner.

Lol good to hear! I actually put them in a ziplock bag with the oil while I take the pump out and apart so they are protected too. Sweeeet.

When I get internals I am going to take them to the tattoo shop to see if I can put them in the autoclave.
