Do you need a HPFP just for an intake? I've been toying with the idea of adding an intake or going with an upgraded intercooler, but it seems like before any mods the HPFP is always mentioned. So I have a couple of questions... I have a 2013, was the HPFP already upgraded? Do you have to do internals on the stock pump or is there a upgraded stock version you can just buy. I'm newer to this and most of my searches brought up little usable info. Thank you in advance everyone! |
You upgrade the pump yourself with new internals or buy the cp-e unit. There is no such thing as an MS3 that comes from the factory with an upgraded HPFP and no, you can't buy one from Mazda either. |

This car requires the deutchworks in tank fuel pump also. Even for rear motor mounts. You are putting.more power to the ground, thus more fuel. |
If you plan on modding beyond the intake then just do the internals now since yurn gonna need em Many say u dont need internals until you do the DP but it's all related so do it now if youre headed down that modding path. With that said...... Search and donate. All the questions you have, have been asked and answered before |
you dont need it right away i have a 2011 with a full turbo-back exhaust, SRI, AND BPV. it was tuned professionally and everythings just fine including my AFR...283 WHP 298 TQ... although before i go any farther i know i need to do the internals. |

There's not a fucking e-tuner on this forum that would tune you with those mods and NO internals. Just goes to show that any "shop" is always willing to make a buck. My heart hurts for you. |

He's probably running extremely low boost; torque is only 298 lb-ft. |

300 dollar fuel pump internals are an Achilles heel? Gtfo and stop with any plans to mod any car ever. Go buy a Prius do not pass go and do not collect 200 dollars. |
they did the boost at 16 |
I'd still get the internals ASAP; you're playing with fire. If the comp. tables aren't perfect you'll overboost and the engine internals will have lots of fresh air to breath. |
im plannin on it after being on here. im not trying to be ignorant or anything i recently got the car and all those mods were recomended by the shop i go to...there reason for no internals yet was that they could tune the care to a safe level without it. |

Are you at least logging and monitoring your HPFP? How do you know it is still holding? Do you believe that because it is holdng now, it will hold tomorrow? Or...you can wait till winter. |

Pro-tip. Abandon your shop now. They clearly dont have a clue when it comes to this platform. |
Holy shit balls! First of all, searching isn't even necessary for this, just read the stickys. I too have a 13 speed that I got new a week ago. I barely have any posts cause I've just been reading. This site has TONS of great info. Guess what? First thing I already have on order before anything else is autotech internals. It seems inevitable and even with light mods I'd rather rest easy not worrying about blowing up a brand new car because I didn't want to spend $350 on supporting mods first. |

You obviously haven't read shit in these forums. |

To the others posting helpful information, thank you whole heatedly. My searches on the topic did not yield clear information so I decided to create a thread. |
Did you go here? It answers all your questions in the first post. Never question a man confident enough to wear leather in a Miata. |

MZR DISI 2.3 HPFpump? | Custom Performance Engineering Question though. why go straight for the intercooler when there are much better $/hp mods or even better mods in general for a stock setup |

Your child-like response did not disappoint and I appreciate you demonstrating that amongst helpful information there is always still a troll. Have a good day and drive safely. |

I doubt you would have a problem with an intake being you are in a warm weather state. When people were having issues with just a intake usually it was in the winter in cold states. |
Just upgrade it and save your engine.... |

If you were a "real enthusiast" then the time it took you to so eloquently respond, you could have offered actual help. A "real enthusiast" would have offered suggestions to a new fellow member, instead you decided to assume I wanted a "spoon fed" answer and devote yourself to throwing insults, "enthusiastically" I'm sure. A bit of tolerance and patience go a long way in building a community. Based on your screen name I would have assumed patience and tolerance might have come from you in spades. Guess not. Your point on searching has been noted and I hope mine on being a bit more patient with new members might find a place amongst your enthusiasm. Drive safely, cheers! |
We have to weed the hopeless fags out one way or another. Otherwise we would just be like m247 or some Volkswagen forum. |
