does shift knob differ between years?
 

My 2010 shift knob on my car has a metal/silver strip around the top of the knob. The 12-13 models people are posting seem all leather and that metal part is missing.

I went to Mazda USA, and for 2013 under gallery they show the same knob as mine with the silver strip but the picture title says "2011 model shown"


So do the 2010-2011 have a diff knob than the 2012-2013?

Anybody try both and have a preference?


Also I notice the 2013 has dark wheels and dark mirrors and rear dark valence. Is there a list to see how each year differed so I can learn about it?

my buddy have a 2010 and i have a 2011
the steering wheel of the 2010 uses this soft touch kinda material. my 2011's leather wrap steering wheel feels thinner and more rough.
2010 have interior lights at the foot well stock, not in my 2011
the color in my buddy's 2010 instrument is slightly different than my 2011, they're all red and blue but somehow the 2010's color is less vivid.

for 2012 they changed the dash trim with silver/grey instead of the red and black fake carbon fiber-ish looking theme following the doors and seats. the buttons and colors of the audio system is different. more black is used. the shift knob is all leather instead of a chrome ring. the instrument became black and red and the display for climate and audio info is blue instead of red on the previous years

haven't taken a close look at the 2013's interior but obviously the wheels, side mirrors, and bottom half of the rear bumper is black compared with the previous model years.

I wish I had that all leather shift knob, that metal ring around the top gets hot as a bitch during the summer in an black car.

the 13 interior is a little different too, the plastics on the center stack feel slightly nicer than on the 10, but i actually like the silver ring on the 10 shift knob. never sat in an 11 or 12.

I used to have the voodoo spun knobs on my miata, got super hot. Elise OEM knob gets hot too. But I can live with little strip of metal on the ms3 because th ere is enough leather to grip on to

Gotcha. Our 2012 Mazda 5 interior is pretty cheap. The ms3 is a bit nicer compared to that.
