Downpipe install tips

Well I'll be installing my full CP-E downpipe today. Just wondering if anyone has any tips. I've read Haltech's Cobb review and install. Hoping I don't destroy my O2s in the process. Any tips on getting to any of the bolts? Tips on how not to destroy any of my sensors? Seeing as I doubt I can just go pick another one up anywhere around here in socal.

Did that dp on my pu. Not bad install. Make sure you have the right tool for the O2 sensor and take your time. PB blast the bolts on the turbo and get alot of dif extensions (swivel ones help alot).

Make sure the pipe faces down.

There's a funky twisting you need to perform to get the old DP out. Prepare to be covered in black death getting the old one out.

Take your time and if any of the nuts/studs/bolts seize up use a torch and heat that bitch up it'll make like a bit easier. Also keep everything you take off organized in one place because I didn't and I spent more time looking for missing shit than I needed to but best of luck.

Crows feet. 14mm. Makes life alot easier on the 2 bottom bolts on dp.

And tighten the 02 a bit before cracking it loose.

May teh Shwartz be with you.

Remove the front crossmember. Some instructions call for it, some don't. It makes a huge difference when removing the stock DP.

Remove the two PMM bolts and pivot the engine forward, gives you a lot more clearance to pull shit out / put shit in. Wear sleeves so you don't get cut on the plentiful sharp heat shielding.

And since no one else has said it, install fuel pump internals! I am hoping you already have them.........

Isn't Derrick having an instal day before he goes back to TX? I would've waited for a Nator instal day if you felt the need to post this thread. No shame in it, I did my intake/hpfp/dp/other shit all on my own having never done more than oil changes on cars before and was lucky I didn't royally fuck shit up. Lol

A swivel head gearwrench is worth having for this.

Well it was a success last night. Wish I would of done what some suggested. The only bitch was getting the post O2 sensor out which destroyed the threads on the bottom part. We also destroyed a crappy O2 sensor socket taking it out. Snapped it clean in half. That's what you get for buying cheap tools on the spot! Also I didn't read this on any other install threads. There is a clip for the secondary O2 sensor that hangs right below where the TIP is. If you're having trouble getting your post O2 out you can just unclip it and take it out fully with your downpipe. It was a grey clip if I recall correctly.

Anyway internals were done before our downpipe install which took around an hour just because we were being really careful and thorough with them. I will say all that black grease/dirt/muck or whatever the fuck it was, is some pretty mean stuff haha.

Now tune it for the DP and let her rip. Nice job.
