This is so true. A mechanic at my dad's work (American Airlines) died when something fell on him when the hydraulic jack failed.


In regards to the OP's fail, my friend had a similar thing happen with his mustang. He had the rear tires on ramps because he was putting in an exhaust in his garage. After we got the exhaust on, we were too quick to fire it up and we reached in and turned the car on to hear the beast. he let out the clutch and didn't realize it was in gear and the ramps literally shot out from beneath the car and into the street. the car came crashing down, but no damage was done. really scary though

I bought a pair for myself and got up there fine, but my driveway isn't as steep as yours. Mine's just really short but the ramps held fine. I took my time driving up them, no problems.

My hydraulic jack failed last weekend when I was jacking up the Miata to get it on jack stands. I would never get under a car w/o jackstands or ramps.

Yeah, I had a $25 POS Crapsman shit itself on my driveway, leaving my Protege5 on jackstands and no way to get it down.

i have as well. but, i try not to put myself in a position that i could not get if there was no jack. or under anything hot.

*fixed. And I agree. They sell a LOT of their shitty jacks. I mean $25 and it can technically lift an MS3. A lot of cheapasses will get that thing. I got it when I had my P5 and needed a cheapo. The funniest thing was my neighbor watching my lift it so many times and asking if I was using a toy. He was sitting on his porch with a smoke when it dropped onto the stands, and said it looked like it peed on my feet when it jetted the oil out. Lucky for me, it just started to if off the stands, so it set down solidly. Having to bum a ride to buy a new one was no fun though.

Fuck Sears and Fuck Crapsman.
