Driving Shoes?

Hey guys,

I have been thinking of getting some comfortable driving shoes for a while now and was just curious on what people like to wear/look for when buying a good pair?....

If I could find some Sparco Pitlanes in my size(12) I would be all over them.

I_Heart_Haters 06-28-2011 10:20 PM

:chairshot: lollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll llllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll

kpacker51 06-28-2011 10:25 PM

Don't a lot of drivers wear low top boxing shoes or some shit like that?

jlink38 06-28-2011 10:26 PM

I wear puma speedcats because I can wear them driving and can also wear them around otherwise comfortably. Sperrys too. So comfortable.

Sperry

GunGuru727 06-28-2011 10:43 PM

I have been looking at Sperrys for some time now also...right now I am wearing some Nike Gato's, I believe they are an indoor soccer shoe but they look good and are pretty thin on the bottom for feel but I want something new.

NikeStore. Shop the Official Nike Store for Shoes, Clothing & Gear

I can't drive with my running shoes on. Absolutely no feel. Rev matching is fun.

Anything with a thin sole should help with pedal feel.

Or, barefoot.

Tapawhat?

HLR Element 06-28-2011 11:01 PM

my uncle buys me piloti shoes from somewhere, they are pretty good. other than that, pumas are good too

emag remrofni 06-28-2011 11:02 PM

flip flops

oh10speed3 06-28-2011 11:16 PM

I usually take my shoes off. But then sometimes my socks slip on the metal pedals

All the shoes I buy are driving shoes. I sometimes go bare foot on road trips, or w/e I'm driving my camry, but here's my favorites currently:

My all around shoes, the specific ones I have are not made anymore, but they are identical to these, cept mine are grey: http://www.shoebacca.com/adidas/o-ty...finder_results

My tracking shoes, extremely uncomfortable for walking, but great heel-toe action: OMP Sport - OMP Sport OS50 Shoes

For when I want to pick up hoes, and still drive fast: adidas Porsche Design CL - Free Shipping, Return Shipping - Your shoe store.

dooderek 06-29-2011 12:25 AM

how bout bare fucking feet

I_Heart_Haters 06-29-2011 12:27 AM

who the fuck cares. a shoe is a shoe. you should buy cleats and try and drive with them. drill holes in your pedals to fit the cleat and you wont have any problems. :sucks::gives::headbang:

rodrigo 06-29-2011 01:22 AM

buy some converse niggah...the point of a driving show is to feel feedback from vibes and shit (ya like the drive by wire pedal really gives u a lot of input lol)

but get converse u willl be fine...i drive with 11.5s and looks like a ninja

Metal409 06-29-2011 01:31 AM

I have a few different pairs of piloti's. Love em.

TexasSpeed3 06-29-2011 04:27 AM

This..... I drive and race in nothing but low top chucks. Inexpensive, durable, and great for pedal feel.

silvapain 06-29-2011 08:55 AM

Make that three people for chucks.

For driving I keep coming back to this

http://i54.tinypic.com/2luf48i.jpg
http://ep.yimg.com/ca/I/8thstreetshoes_2160_9933506

I tried puma and other brands, but in long trips I end up taking them off. So far with these I have been able to do over 10 hours of driving and not feel like my feet are falling asleep. Plus they are not bad looking like other driving shoes I've seen. They offer good heel support, but still thin enough to feel out the pedals. I also have been able to stand and walk all day in them unlike others.

bro2 06-29-2011 02:19 PM

flip flops FTW

rikyrick87 06-29-2011 02:40 PM

left foot bare, right foot flip flop.. until winter anyways.

cesaros 06-29-2011 03:24 PM

Adidas samba or chuck Taylor slims. No need for expensive shoes...you'll just look goofy and not drive any better.

[UPDATE]

If you guys are looking an affordable pair of driving shoes, I believe I have found a really good pair.

They are called "Bullet" by Saucony, you can have them for as little as $40.

Just thought I would let everyone know about them.

clowncar 08-03-2011 10:21 PM

barefoot ftw

fishin53 08-03-2011 10:42 PM

flip flops or converse. lightweight ftw

driving shoes?!?! really? this isnt boxing, lance armstrong bike riding or snowboarding where you need "special shoes". throw on some shoes, or go barefoot and stfu....just drive the damn thing!

HLR Element 08-03-2011 11:39 PM

i can't drive this car barefoot, the way i let off the clutch i'd skin my feet after a drive. I'm use to letting the clutch slide against my shoe to let off the first few inches.

driving shoes do help though, i got so used to them when i wore sneakers i found my self slowly revving the engine at a light without knowing until i was at 2500rpm lol...

That's what I was thinking. I drive in Doc Martin work boots, flip flops, cheap tennis shoes, Nike football cleats, ASICS running shoes, hiking boots, Vibram Five Fingers... pretty much whatever is on my feet. Never had any issues or preference.

Lol I do this all the time in my steel toed shoes.

Puma speed cats are nice for driving. Walking, however is a painful affair in them at least for me.

These are fantastic, especially if you have big feet. Makes heel and toe much easier.

I also drive with 11.5 chucks, must be a power lifting thing.

benx86 08-04-2011 11:05 PM

Just don't try to drive your MS3 with soccer shoes or cowboy boots!!! It's not easy, believe me :)

forcedinduktion 08-04-2011 11:57 PM

I really like driving in my pumas, i want to get a pear of pilotis

JNR5005 08-05-2011 12:07 AM

Oakley Makes some nice ones. I had the white hot laps when I was a valet but you can't walk around in them, they wore out real quick.

i've noticed that too, walking in some of the puma shoes becomes painful cause of the heel and little support in the middle... some arne't bad soccer shoes though for indoor

I hate those shoes with a passion, they make the wearer's feet smell like death as soon as they take em off. Once had a chick come over in em, omg when they were off, biggest turn off ever!

I don't think this is a strange a question as others. I drive best with adidas shell tops.

Wearing running shoes, hiking boots, or dress shoes affects my shifting. But...this is probably because I drive most often in the shell tops.

I prefer to drive barefoot though.

same here. flip flops just fall off my feet or get jammed under the pedals. in the winter i wear birks and take them off to drive... when i end up wearing shoes, shit feels all wrong.

Almost every pair of nice shoes I own are adidas. Those blue and white ones are SEX. Thanks for the link. I will own them very soon. Unfortuanately, probably before one of your occ kits LOL.

I did buy a pair of adidas because they match my car. I'll see if I can find a link.
