Ebay Turbo Inlet?

Searched on this and didn't see anything. So, I was ready to pull the trigger on a Corksport TIP, and saw this on Ebay:

Mazda MAZDASPEED3 MAZDASPEED6 Silicone Inlet Turbo Intake Hose Black | eBay

Thoughts on this? Has anyone tried one? Considering the questionable/minimal gains from a TIP, I thought it was at least worst considering, especially with all the people running around with Ebay downpipes these days. If there is anything about this particular inlet that would make the install a pain in the ass or potentially fail later on, then I'd rather just go with Corksport.

ASHMS3 08-24-2014 09:35 AM

I saw that in my eBay travels this morning. It appears to be the right size, pull the trigger and let everyone know how it fits.

untitledav 08-24-2014 09:49 AM

Those clamps on the picture are shit.... I will get loose on the turbo side, get T-Clamps if you buy this TIP.

Kyle-609 08-24-2014 09:49 AM

Just remember with eBay, you usually get less then what you pay for...

my2k13speed3 08-24-2014 12:02 PM

I wouldnt cheap out on a TIP, your better off with a CS or JBR. As mentioned above those clamps are shit and you would end up paying more to get t bolt clamps

Yousuf 08-24-2014 05:39 PM

Use ebay to con other people, don't get fucked over yourself

ABolewski 08-24-2014 07:28 PM

I say go for it. Hose clamps are the was to go, T bolts are nice but completely unnecessary.

The Alpha Omega GTR uses regular old hose clamps instead of T bolts. Just saying.

ASHMS3 08-24-2014 07:41 PM

Clamps on the intake side of things aren't as big of a deal. Fmic, yeah get yourself some tbolts. Hell, iirc Cobb comes with worm clamps.

Yousuf 08-24-2014 10:11 PM

even CP-e has worm gear on their intake iirc, and they try to act high-end and stuff too

shneeko6 08-27-2014 10:02 PM

Is a tip worth it? I have an sri and was considering one

Snip 08-27-2014 10:07 PM

If you are still having the stock inlet pipe, then yes. It is worth it to upgrade to a 3" inlet pipe

MacheteJames 08-28-2014 07:00 AM

Still haven't pulled the trigger on this. I'm sketched out by the fact that the company that makes these, G Plus Silicone Hoses, has zero record and doesn't really come up in a Google search. Totally a fly by night operation.

blue speed 08-28-2014 11:48 AM

You would be better off waiting until one comes up for sale used in the market place. I picked up a Cobb for mine for $70.

Lakespeed6 08-28-2014 11:59 AM

I wouldn't see a problem buying it.
If a worm gear fails replace it.
A good quality worm gear is better than a t-bolt on most intercooler piping.
Plus there is almost no pressure on intake side.
Fitment may be the only issue but ebay is normally good with returns.

I have only determined one thing from buying ebay parts: a piece of pipe is not always just a piece of pipe.

ImGryssLOL 08-28-2014 03:48 PM

If you zoom in on the second picture you can see it says "SURE" on the side.

Also, #culleneatspenises

shneeko6 08-28-2014 05:27 PM

Im really considering picking one of these up. Cant beat the price.

Edit. I ordered it. Will take some pics when it gets here. Im in PA so it shouldnt take long. I have an ots+ map. Do you guys think i will need retuned?

ASHMS3 08-28-2014 05:38 PM

You should be fine, keep an eye on your boost to make sure you don't spike.

LED_Vera 09-03-2014 04:27 AM

Mine came in today. Looks exactly like a cobb tih. Heres some pics to give you an idea of the quality. Not bad for 58 bucks.Attachment 173239Attachment 173240Attachment 173241Attachment 173242Attachment 173243Attachment 173244

shneeko6 09-07-2014 11:53 AM

Well guys. Looks like i have some bad news. After struggling with trying to get the house to connect to the turbo i gave up. It seems that its about 3 inches too short and cant reach the turbo. Fucking sucks but i figured i would save you guys the headache. What a dissapointment.

As you can see this is as far as i could get it to the turbo. I even used some force to try and get it close but no luck.

LED_Vera 09-07-2014 12:06 PM

That sucks I wonder if they just messed up on that batch.. the pictures you posted look similar to the one i posted... i might have to just order one from cobb.. dang you ebay!!

shneeko6 09-07-2014 12:08 PM

Yea i tried everything to get it to work. I knew the listing was fishy because it didnt list a sepcific year, just says its fits a mazdaspeed 3 and mazdaspeed 6.

yea i feel ya man.. its crazy cuz it looks so similar to the SURE and COBB inlet pipe.. well it looks like ill order the sure to save a few bucks..

my2k13speed3 09-07-2014 12:43 PM

Unfortunately doesn't surprise me that it doesn't fit, sucks your spent the time and money. I've learned do it right the first time, if you spent a little extra on a better quality TIP you wouldn't have run into fitment issues...

shneeko6 09-07-2014 12:48 PM

Yea i understand that but when it comes to downpipes and race pipes ebay is the place to go. I thought maybe it would be a go to place for tihs too. Guess not lol

Snip 09-07-2014 01:03 PM

Indeed,

And respect for you for trying at least.

You always hear people saying that one should not buy this stuff from ebay, but now at least has practical experience including pictures of the problem.

Just a thought; have you thought about contacting the seller about the fitment issue? Perhaps they'll send you a new one. Knowing from experience those chinese dig positive feedback, they'll do almost everything if you threaten to give bad feedback...

shneeko6 09-07-2014 01:26 PM

Yep i contacted the seller to let them know. I might just take my money and run at this point. Not sure if i wanna do another install and find out it still doesnt fit lol

Which part is too short? The length after the 90 bend or the overall length? It seems weird you couldnt make it fit.

shneeko6 09-07-2014 01:37 PM

Yea the lenght after the bend that connects to the turbo. It doesnt quite make it. I used a lot of force to try and get it but no luck.

ASHMS3 09-07-2014 02:42 PM

Thanks for trying and posting your results.

LED_Vera 09-07-2014 05:18 PM

I just ordered on TIP from sure, if my ebay part does happen to fit i will put it on for sale..

sorry about your loss man.. hopefully it was just a dud and they send you out a new one.

MacheteJames 09-07-2014 08:12 PM

The TIP is missing the hose to turbo coupler piece. I knew something looked a little off when the turbo side of the hose didn't reduce down to 2 inches. I bet you could find a 2.5" to 2" reducer piece that would work on siliconehoses.com. Couldn't be more than a few bucks, and if it works, you're still way ahead of where you would be otherwise.

Thanks for rolling the dice on this, at the very least.

DaUberSchwebel 09-12-2014 07:10 AM

If your looking to save a couple bucks, buying used name brand parts is a much better way to go. I learned my lesson on being cheap. I bought an ebay race pipe and the fucker was an inch short. It made my exhaust crooked. So I bought a Corksport part and it fits perfect and is much nicer quality. So in the end I was out $80, I couldn't return the part and there is no way I would ever sell a piece of crap to someone else. You really do get what you pay for.

shneeko6 09-12-2014 08:38 AM

I'm returning the tih. I went with a corksport tip. Perfect fit

LED_Vera 09-12-2014 08:49 AM

My sure should show up in a couple days, but im still stuck in Afghanistan for a couple weeks! I cant wait to get my projects started!!!

ZoomZoomT 06-05-2018 12:27 PM

Is a used Cobb turbo inlet pipe with 20k miles on it still good to get?

kTaLgsTo 06-05-2018 12:31 PM

Well, as long as they did the suggested oilings every 5,000 miles with royal purple snake oil then it's good to go

Hmm, anything over 19,999 miles is suspect. Not sure how my CPE TIH has lasted over 50K but maybe its just a Cobb thing.

blue speed 06-05-2018 06:12 PM

I have a Corksport TIP on both my wife's speed and mine. I had one on my old speed and it was used but had it on for 30K on with no issues.

Looks like im screwed... I knew this COBB TIP I got for a steal with 20k+ miles was to good to be true. Maybe thats why its missing the nipple for the wastegate vac line
