Emissions Testing Issues I recently found that I am pcsing to a new duty station where there is mandatory emissions testing and I have a few questions. I am running a stage 2 map with DP, Racepipe, catback, intake, and an egr delete. I am tuned through ATR and have the corresponding cel's disabled. When I take the car to get tested, will I be able to leave the map on my ECU or will I have to load the stock map? If the stock map is loaded I have no doubt that I will be throwing multiple cel's Any input is appreciated! Brian |
Depends on the local laws. It would help if you gave us the location where you're moving and maybe someone that lives there can chime in on the laws there. But most likely just flashing back to the stock map won't help (even IF you didn't throw any CEL's). Many places that require emissions testing have visual inspections also, and if you've got mods on there (especially ones that remove/delete/bypass CATS), you'll fail. Best to have someone chime in from where you're moving to though. |
If youre coming to cali youll need the cats installed. Pretty sure the same goes for any of the states that follows californias emissions laws. |
I will be moving to fort Campbell,Tn. I still have the stock cat for the Racepipe but I doubt they would pick up an EGR delete. I guess my question should be could I drive the car and baby it and hope it doesn't throw a CEL? |

Looks like Kentucky doesn't have any emissions testing. Thank the lord! |
I'm in KY and there is no testing what so ever. We have an active NATOR chapter, TN/KY Nator and we meet most of the time in Clarskville TN. We have a Facebook site also. http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/forum/f571/ https://www.facebook.com/groups/206647016088166/ |

Usually when u buy a new vehicle you don't have to get an emission test for the 1st 5 years. |
and doesn't the cell toggle on atr just defeat the readiness and the computer will show it as not ready? cobb said something about this just can't recall exactly |
you may be screwed. the etests we have to do here are pretty strict. If you have no cat, you'll fail based on how stupid high your emissions results will be. I have heard that the egr delete may lower some values of the test, but will raise some others. I think Nox is the most effected by the egr but im probably wrong |
