Fail first time at track So I have never been to the track before today, and wow do i have some practicing to do. My shifting was horrible, and just got killed. Felt like i was driving to Wal-Mart lol. Thinking about trying autocross next week. Guess it gets bad before it gets better. |
What did you end up running? My first time at the track in a FWD vehicle was this past summer, and my pu was all stock minus the JBR dog bone rmm. I ran consistant 13.9's @ 99. Again no experience with FWD vehicles, but alot of track time in my AWD DSM's. I went back to the track with drag radials and cobb sf intake and could only run 13.8. Summary, practice practice practice. You will get it one day. |
I am an avid RWD drag racer (have some 500+ passes on my Camaro) and driving a FWD car is a totally different animal. I ran my car once, got three passes in, best was a 14.1 @ 99. Car was 100% stock except for synthetic motor and tranny fluids. You just can't launch a FWD car as hard, or shift it as hard as a RWD car. It was kinda warm (80) that day, and I have since added a AFE filter and weighted knob, I think on a cooler day I can hit a 13.9 @ 100. What was your time? 60'? Conditions? |
I'm in the southwest, and even now late oct it was high 80s. The track timer was not working so i did not get a time, but whatever it was it was just slow. Stayed in first way too long, and I forgot to turn off the traction control. Only made one pass. Gonna try autocross sunday. |
