FAIL! Note to self MAF sensors are unidirectional

So I installed my JBR stage 2 Power Path intake and Autotech HPFP internals last night. I was thinking it would take like 3-4 hours. Boy was I wrong. I cheaped out on a good vice and it was a pain to torque and untorque the bolt on the fuel pump.

Then I get everything together at 3 am. Notice the MAF sensor was installed the wrong direction, but my tired ass 3 am self figures there is enough slack on the cable I'll just hook it up and go. I primped the pump and then tried to start the car. It starts and immediately dies. Frustrated I go to bed.

This morning I go down verify everything is plugged in and looks OK. Then I remember when I supercharged my old cavalier the car would die instantly if you tried to hook the new MAP sensor up with the stock tune.... I take one look at the MAF and realize its propably not bidirectional. 5 minutes later I switch it and she is good to go.

Moral of the story don't start a project like this at 6 pm on a weeknight unless you have help haha.

Lol... gotta love the bittersweet feeling when you realize your problems are caused by something so stupid.

You need Nator in your life. Don't feel bad though, every single install I've done for the first time takes me @ least 2x's as long as people say it took them in the how to threads.

Before you know it, you'll have your intake in and out in 5 minutes.

Yeah I should have got some of the local guys to help me. A garage would have definitely been nice! I think I could do it in 5 min now haha! The HPFP internals was what I really had trouble with due to my vice not being big or gripy enough, but I don't have a work bench so I use one of those temporary instal ones on an old wooden chair.

Did the same thing last night.. used intake, not enough clamps, little vacuum line on tip didnt reach, then realized JBR hoses didnt have the best fitment and was kinking so i had to clean up the lines.. regardless still only took like 1.5 hours.. but it should have been quicker. Glad yours got done, and hopefully you made it to work!

When I did my internals I didn't plug the MAF in at all before I started so don't feel bad lol

The instructions say to trim that hose so that is probably why it didn't reach for you. You do HPFP internals as well?

Nice slightly quicker fix for you though :P

Very quick, but it's disheartening when you tear apart your fuel system and the car won't idle afterward

Everyone has their moments. I don't know of anyone who has ever worked on a car and not fucked something up, or forgotten to plug something in. :)

Twice so far, putting the FMIC on and taking the pipe out to cut for a blow through set up, myself and rob tightened the shit out of EVERY single clamp. Everyone except for the damn turbo coupler clamp. The easiest one to get to.

5 minutes later, POP! Off goes the coupler.
