Default farewell stock block

So after 51k, 2 transmissions, 10 months of being big turbo.......I vented my block. Definitely no surprise there since ive pushed this motor daily.

Rods let go into the sweet jersey air as i was going wot against a STi, and i blew a mile from home lol. Havent had a chance to really inspect but so far theres a nice peek hole in front of ac compressor, and a block fracture in the back.

Calls were made, and I will be picking up my FREEKBUILT block sometime next week or week after.

Rob, Justin, and myself made it clear several times that i was pushing this motor beyond what anyone should and for an extended period of time.

Rob would never send out the maps i ran to anyone no matter how much they asked.
He did it for me because I know where he lives lol.

Sorry about your ZZB and welcome to the club. My shit blew almost 1 month ago exactly today. Do you have me beat for the amount of carnage done to the engine? Fun part is you get to rebuild and do it right. My order from Speed Performanc3 finally shipped so i'm hoping to be back up and running within the next few weeks. Thanks to @atvfreek for selling me his spare short block i have a good donor to work from. Have fun and can't wait to see what the rebuild brings besides piece of mind

I thought the Standard Operating Procedure was as follows:

1. Install Big Turbo on Stock Block.
2. VTA Stock Block
3. Sell Big Turbo to pay for Engine Rebuild.
4. Reinstall Stock Turbo.

Teddy made a 124 mph trap speed pass and ran an 11.9 a few weeks before. I know you to be very good with mathematics, so Teddy's car was far into 450+ land.

His car was not a typical BT on stock block, so I have high hopes for lesser hp cars.

His car, admittedly, was @ the ragged edge. There was no room left for power and the cold air must've been the end for some weakened rods.

It was one of those days that I knew would come, but I was still disheartened when it finally did.

I have done that in the past myself. 1 b series motor I literally broke it in in the wetbox lol. The old school thought on breaking a motor in was if the rings havent seated properly by 200 miles...it probably never will for the next 800. So I used to just gun it here and there...and once the 200 mile mark hit...Id rip that shit and look in my rearview haha.

But this time...since speed motors aint so cheap and easy to come by...I'll have someone break that shit in for me. Rob will kill me if I pop again lol.


As for any race to the 10s....thats all you guys. I just want what I had with a little more tq and peace of mind this time around.

Breaking in a boosted car is a bit different then that article suggests, at least IMO. like teddy said, look in your view and see what you got going on back there each time you give it a little more gas. You will know when they are seated.

Drive it hard but without boost for those first miles. Lots of shifting and engine braking. Mash, shift, mash, shift, mash, shift, DECELLLLLL

You need to break in a boosted car with the wastegate open, either wired open or otherwise. An engine is an engine.

Nothing special by any means. This car is still my daily driver, and its going to stay that way.


Turbo setup will be the same. The only changes I'll be doing is adding another bung for meth, and possible adding the race roots piping and clocking my turbo down.

Im going with a brand new shortblock from Mazda, Manley rods and Wiseco pistons. Stock bore, stock compression. I just want the power I had before I added the window in my block, with a little more tq and peace of mind.
