Fastest 0-60 Hello, I am the proud new owner of a 2013 Mazda Speed 3 with the Technology Package (Pictures to come). I wanted to know what the average 0-60 time is on this stock model. What rpm does everyone shift at from 1st to second gear? I seem to get a ton of wheel spin even with TC on as I launch at about 3,000 to 3,500 rpms. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, - Sin |

1/4th > 0-60 |
0-60 is stupid. To make great 0-60 times in this car you have to put a lot of money in...stupid amounts. And the car becomes very dedicated to that purpose. Giant slicks up front, skinnys in the back. No comfort, rock-hard suspension, you might even get into the removal of anything not directly responsible for forward motion- cause it adds weight. Flywheel and clutch that go fast but are impossible to drive in traffic. etc... focus your efforts on rolling speed. for the same money you'd spend to completely overbuild a speed, you can buy a kit and build a lotus 7 track car that can make 3.0 sec. |
Traction control on will eat your 0-60. Learn how to control wheel spin yourself. Note: Best 0-60 you just have to put it in 3rd gear and get it up to about 4.5k rpm. Drop that clutch and let it go! |

This is a really, REALLY, shitty first post dood. Your first post should have been an introductory thread saying Hi....not some dumbshit thread asking questions that really don't matter. Read your welcoming PM you get and follow it's suggestions. Sad. |

Google is your friend....type site:mazdaspeedforums.org whatever you're searching for. Nine times out of ten you will find the answer you were looking for. Also...turn you're TC off and learn to drive. And donate. And do what everyone else said, welcome thread, read your newb PM's etc. You will avoid being raped. |
Marines gunna Marine… boot. Lol |

Thank you for the Traction Control Tip, however I don't find it funny with your recommendation to launch from third gear at 4500 RPM's. Nobody likes non-constructive comments. - Sin Quote:
"There are no stupid questions, just stupid answers". - Albert Einstein Your answer falls into the second category. If you thoroughly read my post, I stated that I would be putting pictures of my car up as well as a introduction thead. It just so happens I came home yesterday really late and was to exhausted to post a introduction thread. Moreover I also forgot the fact that it's the weekend and non-constructive school children are posting to the Mazda Speed Forums. Perhaps I will try again on a Monday during school hours and get real professional and constructive advice for my new Mazda Speed 3. - Sin |

You are also correct that i am a United States Marine, and as such I tend to be a professional. While I appreciate you being semi-professional while your stoned, I'd recommend you be that way all the time. As for Google, I'm very aware of how to use it. As a matter of fact I spent over 40 minutes googling exactly what I wanted and was unable to find the answers I was seeking. I didn't even take traction control into consideration and will try that the next time i'm playing around in my Speed. Finally for the topic of the newb PM, I will be going through it today. I highly doubt there will be any "raping" going on. At most probably just a few school children's non-constructive comments. - Sin |
Actually, everybody here likes non-constructive responses to stupid questions. It's a recreational sport here. And piling on is not a personal foul - it is rewarded. Now, understand this: use the search function and not ask questions that are the subject of numerous prior threads. We are here to share and help each other, but not to reinvent the wheel by repeating info from old threads. This is the most technically advanced forum on the net for Mazdaspeed cars. If you can't find your answer to basic questions with a simple search function, you are going to incur ridicule. We don't tolerate laziness and don't spoon feed. Having said that, welcome to the board. FWIW: focusing on 0-60 times for a FWD car with short gearing is not productive. As to optimum launch for the drag strip and 60 ft times, read the threads about that. A better use of your time would be practicing your launch on different surfaces. You might, just might find out that there are many different ideas about how to launch this car at the strip. You might find out, maybe, that some if the best 60 ft times on stock tires and with a basically stock car involve a roll out from the hole with minimal or no wheelspin at all. Practice and forget about 0-60 - too many variables. My best is 5.1 seconds per my GTech Pro accelerometer, but I find that info merely incidental and practically useless. More valuable is 60-100 mph in 4th gear as a benchmark of power. All the launch technique variables are eliminated. |
your attempts at being professional will be in vein here. mazdaspeedforums has one of the worlds largest collections of cocksuckers and motherfuckers you'll find on the Internet. the bright side it also has one of the worlds biggest collection of technically savvy gearheads too. in my opinion some of our platforms biggest leaps forward where the results of our gearheads. Enjoy the mixed emotions. |
Dis gon be good... |
OP, fuck off with trying to be some swarmy pompous gentleman. You came here asking a straight up retarded question that one could easily find the answer to with a little bit of searching. Shits gonna get fun fast if ya continue asking things in the same vein. now with three times the hate |
Fail Wheel Drive....that is all |

Thanks for the welcome to the board. I'll keep the cocksuckers and motherfuckers in mind the next time I ask a question. I'm not overly concerned, we had them in the Marine Corps as well. As for the spoon feeding, I don't want any and I'm not used to being spoon fed at all with what I do outside of having fun in my Speed; I am also not by any means a lazy person, I did my 40 minutes of Googling before this topic was even created. Perhaps your right, I probably couldn't find the answer because people are more concerned with 60 ft track times and 1/4 times than they are 0-60. I'm doing more research now. Thanks, - Sin |

Hey OP, Thank you for your service. Being a Marine you should have thick skin. All these dudes that are talking mess are just playing with you, don't take it personal. Its just like having a bunch of your boys hanging out and talking shit to each other. Besides they are in many words or ways trying to help you. Trust me forget about the 0-60 times. Practice your launching. Your in a Fwd car. I'm sure your wanting better 0-60 to beat cars off the line at stop lights. Your gonna have to let that go and master your launch and when to shift. Do as the others say and work on the 60-100 times, cause your 3rd and 4th gear is were you will pull right pass someone. I actually like it when another car gets the jump on me and he thinks he's got me, lol then i catch him and leave him. That look on there face is priceless. Good luck. As one brownie to another, let me just say one important thing about how this site is a bit different than most. Almost everyone here really wants to sleep with your sister, amen. |
Holy epic fail OP! Bringing out my  and going to sub this one and enjoy the show |

You're welcome :P - Sin Quote:
You're very welcome sir, it was my pleasure. You're right, as a Marine I have very thick skin. I'll forget about the 0-60 times, if memory serves it's suppose to be 5 1/2 seconds or a little over six anyways. I'll have to locate a spot where I can practice my 60-100 times, HWP is out in force all the time in my area. Perhaps a Valentine One would make a great investment instead of a Whistler. As for the 3rd to 4th gear, I agree whole heartily. I was on my way to work one morning and a Z28 Camaro (probably 2000's) went zooming past me, he didn't get more than 1 car length ahead before I shot past him. The pulls in this car are phoneominal. - Sin |

If you are concerned about 0-60, sell the speed and get a evo or Sti. That being said. Get some good tires and a decent RMM. That will help. Best of luck and thanks for serving. |

If you want 0-60 and 1/4 miles times, you bought the wrong car. |

OP allow me to invite you to consider a donation to the board owner. There is a huge amount of technical info and other useful functions you cannot see as a "brownee." Also, you'll not be harassed as much, even though we are ALL assholes and proud of it. |
