Pu Manchu 07-19-2011 08:06 PM

I'd definitely be proud to have that on my car.

Ace99899 07-19-2011 08:10 PM

Made it for 40 bucks. All aluminum. People were saying I was going to fail and shit. It was more to just say fuck you lol.

I Love Brownies 07-19-2011 08:42 PM

my cob doesnt throw a cel. i told you earlier in your first thread you would throw a cel.

do you think your car likes running lean?

Ace99899 07-19-2011 08:45 PM

I know why it is. Or was bc as of right now it's not. Do you know why it is running lean hmmm. Let's hear it smarty pants

Stingray69 07-19-2011 08:47 PM

Let the R&D begin! Hope it don't end bad. What an experiment! Why?

JTMS3 07-19-2011 08:50 PM

do you know your AFRs? How do you know whether you are running lean or not?

I Love Brownies 07-19-2011 08:52 PM

what do your fuel trims look like? do you have an ap. pending on several factors you could have a vacumm or boost leak. did you maf cal since im guessing your maf diameter is diff from stock?

Rich-PMS 07-19-2011 08:54 PM

Did you use an air splitter?

No the maf is the same size, 3inch. I think it could be the baffles that are in the intake box that are by the sensor may have something to do with it. There not in my maf tube. I didn't check for boost leak bc the light didn't come back on after like 20 miles. I'll check it tomorrow it's late right now. It may have just needed to recailibrate

skeeter149 07-19-2011 09:00 PM

are you running some kind of air straightener? any i know the car untuned hates a maf housing that is not the exact size of stock. good work might need a little refinement but for a first attempt nice indeed. dont give up

JS + MS3 07-19-2011 09:07 PM

so you didn't listen to us.....

hope everything goes well for you man

good luck

Why not? it was almost 200 dollars cheaper and works... Well lol

G26 07-19-2011 09:22 PM

Your running lean because your MAF housing is not the correct size. I believe the stock one is 68mm on the gen 2/ 66mm on the gen 1. This is approx 2.6-2.7inches, where as you stated your maf housing is 3 inches. If you don't have an AP to calibrate your maf, your trims/afr will all be fucked, because that is a big difference.

Shit, fuel trims are off between 66/68mm, let alone 3 tenths of an inch.

Ace99899 07-19-2011 09:27 PM

Damn you JSCSpeed!!! They told me it was three! Well im pissed lol, guess i have to make a new housing if thats for sure it. I still think the baffles have something to do with it as well

bewsted 07-20-2011 04:47 AM

yoou shall maf cal to solve all your issues!

So your $40 intake will cost $600 to run properly unless you change the maf housing lol.

Thats correct.....

Actually taking a second look....did you use one of those universal maf housings?

Because they for sure don't work.

Wildfire 07-20-2011 08:49 AM

I say keep it on and just keep running it. Lean...rich...lets see how it works in the long run.

Ace99899 07-20-2011 09:47 AM

I bought a universal maf housing to go off of and for the gaskets. The maf was made.

snailD 07-20-2011 09:48 AM

an intake is like the simplest mod. its really hard to make one that sucks. All it is, is a pipe flowing air from a filter through a maf housing. have a filter, running into the appropriate sized maf housing, through an unrestricted free flowing pipe to the turbo inlet. its a pretty easy concept and idk why everyone gets all butt hurt about not buying one from a vendor for saving a few bucks.

yea op needs to get his maf housing straightened out, thats why i used a stock one from an airbox on my intake, which has been running great since day 1

Your kinda incorrect on the simple part. The baffles can be very important like in a subi. If you don't have those your in trouble. That's why you need a tune with it.

what baffles do u speak of? this is not a subie. the only thing to worry about is the pcv and i had mine routed into the turbo inlet since i was buying a cs inlet anyways and they had that option

Tokay444 07-20-2011 10:05 AM

Fail is imminent.

He means the air straightener.
Second most important part.
