Default Finally getting first mods

Ordered CS SRI/TIP combo, JBR dogbone RMM, JBR shift plate kit with knob and bushings. JBR stuff already shipped (you are the fucking man Jamie). CS said intake was backordered but I am waiting to hear back if I can just change some of the color options and get it shipped.

Nice, doing all of that at once will make the car feel almost unrecognizable at first. Now get an AP!

I debated for a while about doing a few small things, or doing just an AP. My play money is pretty limited right now, it seems toddlers like to eat. AP will be my next mod followed by internals.

I looked at it as more of an investment, a few weeks ago I had fuel pressure issues which was caused by a failed set of upgraded internals. If I hadn't had the AP and been logging it may have been too late by the time I realized what was happening. Good luck with the modding!

Awesome, I just got my MS3 on Saturday and I'm ready to order pretty much the exact same mods as my first. I was just going to get the CS motor mount insert though, I very rarely drive hard these days.

I ordered the CS SRI/TIP last night and it's apparently not shipping for another week or so, because they don't have the powder coated TIP on hand.

I emailed and just asked if it would be quicker if I got the polished version instead, but no response yet.

You have any luck?

Yeah, call them and change your order. They shipped the same day I called. Supposed to be here tomorrow. Looks like I have a busy day Saturday.

edit: Keep in mind they are on WA time. I was getting pissed they weren't answering the phone, then I realized they are in WA and 4 hours behind me. You're in Dallas, so call around noon your time.

What internals did you have that failed? Because I planned on ordering and installing some autotechs without an AP for right now.

You know many people running aftermarket fuel pump internals with no AP?

Installed RMM, knob, and SSB today. The shifter feels so much better with just those two on. I'm going to do the SSP tomrrow, so I can do it at the same time as the intake. Vibes from the RMM are a little alarming at first, but I was used to it by the time I got home. We'll see how they are after it breaks in a little.

Well there isn't much of a need for internals without the AP because you won't need them until stage 2. Not saying it isn't a good idea to upgrade but (and someone correct me if I'm wrong) the stock ecu will never call for 1800+ psi. The stock pump can put out about 1700 which is all the factory map will call for.

These cars are a crap shoot when it comes to modding without a AP/internals safety net. If you do anything that puts the car out of it's comfort zone, you run a risk. Whether you run it around for months without a prob, or 24 hours...there is always a risk. It is far better to be patient and save for a AP/internals than it is for a new engine from Mazda.

I understand that completely and trust me when I say this is not another do I really need internals question. The dilemma I am facing is I can only afford/am allowed by my pregnant wife to get one or the other at this time. Obviously both have there individual benefits. Do I be safe and assume that my car is possibly running low fuel pressure and get the fuel pump internals and worry about tuning for power later and run the risk of not knowing what my fuel pressure actually is after the internals and if they are installed correctly? Or do I get the AP so I can actually see how my stock pump is doing on my current mods (SRI+TIP) and run the risk of not having enough money left over to buy fuel pump internals when/if I find out by logging that my stock pump is crapping out? See what I am saying? Both have there advantages and disadvantages. But waiting to do both at the same time is probably the most dangerous thing of all because I am not being proactive at all.

If you have an Android phone (probably avail for iphones too, but I don't know shit about them), get Torque and order a blue tooth OBD2 adapter from Amazon and you can monitor and log your fuel pressure. If you are getting low pressure with with current setup, then order internals and you can still monitor with Torque. Less than a $30 investment and it works on all OBD2 cars for reading and clearing codes.

Go with the AP so you can monitor what's going on. You can also upload the stage 1 map getting the most out of what you have and also monitor FP. If there are any problems you see you can always go back to stock since the only way you could tell is with an AP also you really don't need internals that much for just TIP/SRI especially if you are able to monitor with the AP for any issues compared with more performance mods and wanting to go to Stage 2 you better have AP AND Internals for sure.

I agree with you. a couple of my friends here have GEN2 BT(big turbo) cars. Both told me to get sri, tip, exhuast, and AP. Also was told not to do any more performance mods till I swapped the FP for a HPFP. I trust these guys to the fullest, both are pushing over 400whp so I'm pretty sure they know what the are talking about. FYI the FP in our cars a cam driven so if they malfunction it will destroy the engine.

I understand that but I am not talking about doing any more performance mods. The dilemma I have is everyone knows the genpu's fuel pump/ecu combo is weird. You can either have great pressure with a SRI/TIP combo, or it can be very low. It's a crap shoot. I might just buy the AP now that I have the OK from the boss and the money since the internals are cheaper and I can afford those later. I haven't noticed any fuel problems yet so maybe I am one of the lucky ones?

Yeah it is out first child so I dont know exactly how much they will cost. I see in your list you arent getting internals. So you arent worried about getting your intake TIP and taking a log with your AP and then seeing 700psi fuel pressure? Lol then you have to say fuck now I HAVE to spend another 350 on internals.

I'll have to talk to my friend i dont think he is running internals with his BT but im not sure. I will ask him about it later and let you know. I really dont want to do too much to the engine right now. just for warranty stuff. the dealer I go to is pretty cool, but he did said not to touch the internals for now. Thanks for the heads up. Kids are fun im expecting my third and they are fun if you can get over the shitty diapers lol

Did he say engine internals or fuel pump internals? Because correct me if I am wrong but an AP will void your warranty way faster than fuel pump internals, due to the AP changing the ECU entirely.

Would you all be saying this if my car goes boom from no internals? Lol then I will get to hear "a Mazda without HPFP internals is like a woman without a vag" I will get the AP but if my fuel pressure is low I am taking up a collection on here for internals. Lol

yeah just got done talking to him he said with the tip and sri you dont need the fp internals or ap. But as soon as you get the ap get the fp internals and dont put a down pipe till you have the hpfp internals or rebuild. so guess i have to change my list now lol. he is running 420+ whp and still has factory engine internals.

I think we are not on the same page. Every car is different. In order to get the most out of our cars, we NEED BOTH the AP and FP internals. When is where the differences happen. You need the AP to maximize AFR's And power, and you need the FP internals to do that and be safe. Which to do first is the major question. It's not a matter of "if" it's "when" and what order.

Not to be nosy man but 3k is WAY too much for all of that. What brands of things are you buying?

If you really wanted to save some coin, you could knock most of the install out yourself. Yes, the fuel pump internals look hard but have faith! When i ordered my autotech internals from eric at edgeautosport he said if i have ANY problems give him a call. I did infact have a problem and called him, i thought to myself... he's just trying to make a sell he's not going to answer. The man answered all my questions and after he found out who it was calling said if i needed anything else let him know!

As far as tuning goes, There are plenty tuners on here to get your speed rolling hard. But hey, it's your money!
