First post and advice! Hey guys I'm looking to purchase a speed3 soon and I have nailed it down to two options. Just would like some insight on what you would think is best. Option one: 2012 with tech package and nav. 38k miles Love the car but interior is a little worn. 100% stock $17k Option two: 2011 no tech package but has nice black rims, built in radar detector and will come with an intake and an acessport for free. Also already lowered but I'm not sure if it's springs or coil-overs.77k miles with a flawless exterior and interior. $14.5k I really enjoy the idea of having a fully loaded car, but I feel like the amount of money I'm saving on parts on the second option is awesome along with immediately having a OTS tune and rims. This is nice because it will be hard to convince my dad to let me get rims, acessport etc after purchase. Thanks in advance for all the help, can't wait to join the community ! |
You know if you buy VIP on here (only $25/yr), you can run Autochecks on those for free in the VIP forums. Option 2 definitely sounds like a better deal, just need to be careful as not all Mazdaspeed owners mod responsibly. Might want to bring a local Nator with you to take a look at it. I love the tech package personally. I'm really glad I waited for a one to come up. If you wait, I'm sure another one will pop up. |
I'd go with option 1. Newer, tech, fewer miles, unmodded. Pending an autocheck on each that would be my choice. |
If the interior is worn what kind of care and maintenance do you think they gave to the rest of the car? |

Option 1. Ton less miles and no mods. At the end of the day, the car's value is primarily its build year and the number of miles on it. Dealerships will offer no additional $$ for aftermarket mods. I used to work at a pre-owned ford dealership. We loved it when guys with modified cars came in to trade up. We'd offer them no additional $$ for the modifications and if they bit on the offer we would turnaround and sell the car on the lot very quickly. |
I have to ask how the interior took a beating in 38k miles. My 2011 with 78k still looks like new, and I haven't been especially kind to it transporting dogs and grandkids on occasion. |
Thanks for the help guys but yeah there are just some serious wear spots on the interior but i definitely think ill like the lower miles on the first option as well. You all are awesome can't wait to be a part of the form:) Also what all do you get for gong VIP on the forums??? |
Autocheck access, for sale forum access, access to the VIP forums, discount codes for vendors, and other shit. Sent from my A0001 using Tapatalk |
The first option is a safer bet, but you'll have to pay a lot more $$ obviously. I've tried to sell with mods before when I went through a "I need a Jeep Wrangler right fn now phase." On the other hand, you might be able to talk the guy down even further on option 2. I would offer around 12k and see his reaction and work up to 13k as a final offer. It's extremely difficult to sell a modded car so he might have some wiggle room. |
Option 1 hands down. Good luck on your purchase. |
They are both flooded salvage repo stolen recovery cars that were rolled down a cliff until proven otherwise. No links, no pics, I say no to both. |
