Forge BPV fluttering

Wondering if someone can give me some input.

Got a forge v1 BPV. I'm getting nasty fluttering. Very long and loud.

I did some research and did the cleaning and regreasing. Checked all the hoses and make sure there was nothing lose.

I'm running the red spring. I tried no Shim, one shim and two shims. Issues persist.

I'm usin the stage 1 Surev2 map.

I think you need the blue spring with 1 or 2 shims....

Pintozoz 06-20-2012 06:33 PM

Fuck I bought this one used. Only came with red shim.

Goes red/blue/yellow.... You can order new springs

Will look into that. Thanks.

Flutter means the spring is too stiff or the valve needs lubrication.

And this would be considered bad flutter? Or compressor surge?

Lex 06-20-2012 10:41 PM

Flutter is compressor surge. If it's very mild it is fine but more severe surge can cause damage.

There is a how-to on cleaning/lubing, but inthemean time, call/email Forge. Make sure you also have the o-rings inside and onthe cap. The used one I bought used I found was missing 1 o-ring and another was split. Some lithium grease and new o-rings made it work great!

You can purchase a spring set from forge

Forge Motorsport | Alloy Fabrication

You will want to run blue spring and use shims accordingly. I have run blue +2 shims since I've had the valve.

make sure you didn't put the plunger in upside down. If the domed side is facing the wrong direction, it will flutter bad.
