Fuel pump internals So I know the importants of getting the fuel pump internals or just a new pump in general but does it have to be done after a couple bolt ons... Some of you older Mazda speed forum guys may remember this guy. Idk his old user name but his real name is Joe. A couple years back is when he was active on here. Anyway he had a 2007 speed 6 and at one time had the fastest(like a 12.9) with stock turbo and bolt ons. Had a switch to turn awd off, something like that. Had also written a lot of write ups on here. He now has a bigger turbo aftermarket waste gate, bov, ap, cold air, dp, exhaust and some more and he says he is still running the same stock fuel pump from the factory today and still had no problem. He doesn't say that you shouldn't and that he isn't going to but he Did say it might be an unnessary mod to do early into the game(simple bolt ons) So let's hear some thoughts. I'm not sure what to believe. |
A switch to turn off awd? I used to just lift the e-brake one click when I had mine :stooges: Probably fucked the car up good :( |
The ECU logic in the gen2 is different than the Gen1 and MS6. There's been many posts discussing it, but basically it tries to over-compensate low fuel pressures. http://www.mazdaspeedforums.org/foru...closely-69969/ Quote:

I copied and pasted this information Cobb provided in the differences between gen1 and gen2 as far as the ecu logic related to feuling. The Gen2 platforms appear to have very different logic when it comes to fueling during boost spool up. The Gen2 platform demonstrates a very different response when DI Fuel Pressre drops. As DI Fuel Pressure drops below ~1600psi on the Gen2 platform, the ECU will immediately increase fueling by increasing the Injector Pulse Width (IPW)...which puts increased demands on the fueling system further dropping the DI Fuel Pressure. The additional fuel is a good safety measure, but this behavior makes it so Stage1 (S1) calibrations will be calibrated to stay within the capacity of the stock Camshaft Driven Fuel Pump (CDFP) and not calibrated to their full performance potential. |
Holy crap, I thought that was Finkle posting that, then I went down a post. |
