Well fuck... that was a bust. I installed the UR cat back on Friday and removed it on Saturday. That shit was too loud. I mean fucking loud. I went into a parking structure and I set off every car alarm in the place. Don't get me wrong the shit sounded super clean and had a deep rumble, there was a noticeable gain in power but fuck no. I even had the UR resonator but it was still too loud. I'm going to sell it on the forum and possibly buy a magnaflow to get rid of the raspy dirty sounding stock crap. I'll post my video later tonight.

I also got a chance to clean my intake valves this weekend. Never want to do that shit again. It took me 7 hours of pain in the ass work. Thank god for makita power drills without them it would have taken twice as long. Honestly with 40,000 on my pu they didn't look half bad. I also cleaned my throttle body and intake manifold. They did need it pretty badly they were pretty dirty.

7 hours? Damn, that must be some kind of record. Some people take 3 days.

I am sure you will have no problems selling the UR catback since most of the Closet Ricers here like loud exhausts. :biglaugh:

Makita and nylon engine brushes. Would have taken me 2 days without it. Next time I'm going to do the walnut media thing instead.

I'm hoping the UR sells quickly, takes up too much space in my garage.

Sucks to hear about the exhaust being to loud. I'm with you though, Not a fan of overly loud exhaust. I'm sure it will sell quickly though.

As for the valve cleaning... Definitely not looking forward to doing that myself when the time comes, lol.

Difference was huge... but yeah it's not as noticeable in the video. You can thank my crappy s3 for that.

So in short, you do not want to sound like 90% of the Speed 3's that are modded? ;)

Well that 10% is divided into people with Stock Catbacks or people with Racing Beat or Big Muffler CP-E exhausts, haha.

[R]usty 06-18-2013 03:47 PM

Racing beat huh. I'll look into that one.

@RamiLP; has one. Between that one and the CP-E big muffler catbacks, it is a toss up in which one is quieter. They are both quiter than the stock catback, that's for sure.

@rustysurfsa

The UR CBE definitely sounds deeper on the video but yeah not much of a difference. I'm sure in person it's a whole different story.

I'm still going to go the Ghetto route with my exhaust. Resonator delete, Test Pipe and nicer exhaust tips and I'm calling it a day. LOL

Good man. Its not like you are going to go big turbo anytime soon. Screw getting a testpipe, just gut that midpipe. :)

Yeah exactly. No need to spend too much money on something that won't make me faster.

Isn't the Magnaflow quite as well. I like the way the tips look.

Thats funny, I have a friend who has one of those as well. Maybe the three of us can get together and demonstrate for you one day, haha.

i wouldn't Say that the racing beat is quieter than the stock, its definitely louder than stock, but inside the car it sound almost as quiet as stock, which is a great benefit when you are still able to use your Blue tooth phone calls and not have a huge drown on long trips.

although the Racing beat sounds much better than stock under WOT.

Added some new things to my PU. First I painted my calipers black with G2 paint and added red mazdaspeed decals. Does not look ricey, very understated and clean. Took 3 hours and was totally worth the work. Paint was only 36 bucks.

I also added automatic headlights. I have a 2010 so the tech package doesn't have all the features the new ones have. Took 3 hours, works like it should.

Next I will be buying some Brembo slotted rotors and some new pads to complete the brakes. Not sure which pads to get yet any insight would be great. Looking for less dust with the same bit and less fade.
